[Western Crossover] Dad! How Can You Sleep at Your Age?!

Alex Myers, an utterly ordinary orphan in Bludhaven, has mastered all the essential street-kid skills: stealing, fighting, and keeping his head down. His proficiency is maxed out. He’s stolen bread from the orphanage, robbed homeless people on the street, and put on a pitiful act in front of a priest to get a coat for winter. He figures that’s just how life goes. He’s a street punk now, and when he grows up, he’ll become a delinquent with dyed blond hair and a motorcycle. If he gets the chance, he’ll join a decent gang and pursue a life of villainy. Maybe he’ll even end up running a few neighborhoods. His life as a street punk lasted only until he accidentally teamed up with the superhero Nightwing, aka Dick, a young Bludhaven cop, and helped send the boss who ruled his neighborhood to prison. Just like that, he’d made an enemy of the local big shot. Well, crap. His grand ambition of becoming a delinquent with dyed blond hair and a motorcycle seemed doomed. But it was fine, Alex told himself. If he couldn’t become a villain, he could get into politics by becoming a lackey to Bludhaven’s corrupt police commissioner. He could still make a fortune that way. Unfortunately, before he could put his plan into action, he was homeless again. The good news was that the kindhearted young Bludhaven cop took him home. From then on, Alex lived a normal, happy life, and decided his chances of getting into politics through the back door had improved considerably. He could even take things one step further: motivate his dad to work his way up, then become a nepo baby himself and elevate the whole family’s social standing. Except not. Because one day, his beloved foster father bounced in through the balcony wearing a skintight suit and told him that the young Bludhaven cop was actually Nightwing. And behind Nightwing stood Batman. Alex: … He flew into a rage, had a fight with his foster father, and promptly ran away from home. Dick: “Son, don’t be like this. Weren’t we happy together before? We’d even started planning your college life!” Alex: “But now all my plans for the future are ruined, you jerk of a dad!” Dick: “…Can I ask what those plans were?” Alex: “I was already working on getting your boss sent to prison and then helping you climb the ladder. According to my plan, your career would keep leveling up, from police commissioner to mayor to governor and then all the way to president. And I’d take over the family business, handling both politics and business, and become the most sought-after nepo baby around! Now my dream has been crushed because of you! Twice!” Dick: … Alex: “I was wrong about you! I have to cut my losses now. At least you’re not my only candidate.” He gave his unreliable dad a long look and thought, Fine, you can go be a superhero. Once I get into the White House with my godfather Deathstroke or Lex, I’ll be chief of staff. Then I’ll pass a law granting superheroes immunity for you and Batman.
