[Western Crossover] Who Says an Assassin Can't Be an Investigator?

Everyone knows that Assassins and Templars are fighting over the Pieces of Eden (Tony: Everyone? Did you just kick me out of the human race?), but no one ever knew where the Assassins put the Pieces they’d stolen. The answer: Miskatonic University. (Tony: Anyone ever heard of this university? Because I haven’t. Natasha: I have. Tony: Seriously? Natasha: It’s in an internal S.H.I.E.L.D. report, available only to Level Ten agents. Don’t look at me like that, Tony. Work hard enough, and you might make Level Ten someday. Adrian: Great, Nat. Could you introduce Miskatonic for us? Then I won’t have to pad this out. Natasha: Sure, just, wait.) That’s right, the Assassin Brotherhood and Miskatonic have a long-standing partnership. After all, it’s hard to dig for Pieces of Eden around the world without running into disheveled Miskatonic investigators. The Assassins need somewhere to get a higher education, so they can be sent to Miskatonic to study and face the truth of the world. The investigators can be sent to the Brotherhood’s training grounds to build up their bodies. It’s a win-win! You mean HYDRA? Yep, yep, HYDRA has been worshipping eldritch gods for ages! You mean Gotham? Yep, yep, Miskatonic has been sending investigators there to clear out monsters for several years in a row. They still haven’t finished, so we’re getting ready to establish diplomatic relations with Batman and set up a permanent internship program! This arrangement had worked smoothly for a long time. Everyone did their utmost to keep those terrifying truths from coming to light in public. But now, everyone, we have a problem. We don’t even have time to worry about confidentiality agreements anymore. It’s 2012. That “end of the world” news you saw online isn’t a hoax. *Before you read: 0. Neither protagonist is new to romance or other romantic activities, but no exes will appear or be mentioned in the story. The timeline and ages from the original works will be adjusted. 1. No one falls in love with an eldritch god in this story. There are no beautiful eldritch gods or mythological creatures. 2. The story includes a few CoC dice rolls, mainly to serve the plot, but they won’t affect your understanding. :) 3. The story may include horror and sanity-draining scenes, but don’t worry. Superheroes, investigators, and Assassins will accompany you throughout the journey, so your reading experience will be safe and comfortable. 5. Take your mind off it.” Julian looked at him and blinked. “Like you?” Nightwing immediately thought of the way Julian had said “getting close to my idol” when he’d first joined the force. His heart gave an inexplicable jump. Almost without thinking, he admitted, “Yeah. Like me.” But Julian gazed at him for a moment, then laughed. “Quit joking around,” he said, clearly not taking him seriously. “Hero.” But, as you can probably guess, Nightwing never gives up easily. After being rejected once, Dick Grayson secretly vowed to rescue rookie cop Julian from the depths of workplace romance! Nightwing: Workplace romance is strictly forbidden, and it never ends well...
