[Western Crossover] An Ordinary Profession Creates a Plot Bug

Si Xing is a thief, one of thousands in Gotham. But he isn't quite an ordinary thief. He's a superpowered master thief, like the origami thief in stories. He can turn any part of his body into paper, which is how he earned the name master thief. Sounds impressive? Not really. In Gotham, where gods and demons walk side by side, all he can do is get pinned to the ground and beaten up. Those Robins, those "superhumans with money," can bend steel bars with their bare hands. What chance does a little paper man like him have? Robin in particular is always excited to ask, after catching him, if he can turn into an origami cat or dog. Do criminals have no rights? Doesn't he deserve some dignity? He'd had enough, so he said goodbye to Gotham. Si Xing decided to move. He packed his bags and headed to Bludhaven, which had just as many criminals but no heroes, making it the perfect place for him to live. Then he discovered Robin had moved to Bludhaven too. Oh, shit. After that, he realized he had a passive ability: wherever he went, he'd trigger a plot point, like getting struck by lightning while grocery shopping. Si Xing decided to get together with the Bludhaven cop who kept telling him to be a good person every day, and become a good-guy vigilante or something. Every faction wanted him to join them. Why, you ask? Heavenward gaze. Sip tea. Probably because he's so strong. Huh. So he's that strong? DC's most dazzling, fair-skinned-and-dark-hearted, handsome, dog-like Nightwing x a cat-like, thieving bottom who can't be bothered Fussy readers, you can't see me! The timeline and all plot points are entirely my own. If you don't like it, run for the hills. This is my kind of sweet romance. This story became a paid serial on June 10. It's an original work published on Jinjiang! Three chapters will be released on launch day! Thanks to all the lovely readers for your support! This story was completed on August 19. Coming soon: Superhero by Day, Supervillain by Night A former mercenary dies and gets bound to a torturous System, which demands that he be both a superhero and a supervillain. "You have to be a superhero who fights evil and hates injustice, while also becoming a notorious, sophisticated criminal," the System said with dramatic emphasis. "Are you trying to give me a split personality or what?" For scheduling purposes, the System decided the mercenary would be a hero by day and a criminal by night. "You should've gone into business and become a capitalist. What a waste," the mercenary said, grumbling while diligently doing his job. And so the former mercenary spent his days as a righteous knight, saving the world from aliens and Hydra in New York. At night, he became the Joker, head of Batman's fan club, and made a hobby of wrecking things in Gotham to make Batman's life difficult. One day, his secret identity was exposed. Shocking! The Prince of Crime in Gotham moonlights as a New York superhero! Unbelievable! New York's superhero turns into Gotham's Prince of Crime at night! And so S.H.I.E.L.D. and Batman got into a dispute over who had the right to take custody of the former mercenary, now a villain who moonlights as a hero. "He's a New York superhero. Even if he commits crimes, he should be detained at Avengers Tower, under our supervision." Tony, representing S.H.I.E.L.D. in its effort to snatch him up. "He was Gotham's Joker before he became a superhero. He belongs in my custody at Arkham Asylum." Batman, representing all the Joker fans in Gotham. The two sides argued endlessly, then both turned to the mercenary, who was watching the show while eating popcorn. Mercenary: The hell are you looking at? I'll punch you. Heh. And then... Batman simply snatched him and ran back to Gotham. A classic mutual-redemption story. Batman pairing. Happy ending. Theme: Be a decent person
