Al inherited everything from his genetic clone of Batman.
A genius mind, detective and tactical skills, physical prowess, resilience under pressure, a well-proportioned figure, good looks, and even wealth and power.
He was created to infiltrate the Bat Family, learn from Batman, imitate him, and eventually take his place.
Following his instructions, Al went to a construction site to find Bruce Wayne.
He thought: Bruce Wayne must be inspecting the work. No wonder he's the genetic template. Even though he's rich enough to buy the world, he's still obsessed with work!
Then Al saw a semi truck wearing a hard hat and a sleeveless undershirt heading his way. In a gruff voice, it asked, "You looking for me?"
Al: ?
Standing before the Absolute Batman, he was like a kitten facing a mountain, his tiny eyes full of confusion.
Wasn't he supposed to be a gloomy, dark billionaire? Why was this Bruce Wayne the construction-site limited edition?
Bruce Wayne: Born in Crime Alley, twenty-five years old, has a mother, is a semi truck, grew up sharing a pair of pants with certain famous criminals, and has a doctorate in civil engineering.
The mission's difficulty had suddenly shot up to hell mode.
Al pondered for two seconds and decided to continue following his employer's request.
That was: take Bruce Wayne's business empire and the Bat Family away from him.
But the Absolute Batman had nothing. So Al decided to build him a business empire, recruit and train the Bat Family, and then take it all away.
A few months later, the employer suddenly remembered the subordinate on the mission.
Employer: What are you doing?
Al: I'm building an empire for Batman. So far, I've acquired thirteen commercial streets, one multinational conglomerate, two gangs, and five private companies. I've recruited Batgirl Barbara Gordon and Nightwing Dick Grayson, and I'm negotiating with Red Hood. I'm hoping to get him to sign an employment contract this week.
Employer: Doesn't the Absolute Batman already have qualities and abilities you can learn from?
Al: 1
The next day, Al went to the construction site wearing a hard hat and carrying a thermos, and mixed concrete with Bruce Wayne.
Half a month later, the employer checked in with the employee again.
Al: I'm taking over the East End building materials market to close the supply chain loop. Nightwing is operating a gantry crane at the Diamond Wharf, and Barbara has taken on the low-voltage engineering for the city's surveillance system...
Employer: ?
Al Drix was a very dangerous man. He was one of Gotham City's wealthy elite, carrying the inborn arrogance and refined air of the ruling class.
Al Drix knew that Bruce's secret identity was Batman's. He had his own business empire and a host of mysterious followers. His aid to Batman seemed more like a superior's malicious game with Gotham's underclass.
Al Drix had a genius mind, detective and tactical skills, physical prowess, and resilience under pressure. Bruce had tried to deal with him twice, but Al Drix had brushed him off with ease.
He was an extremely troublesome enemy.
So Bruce had no choice but to endure as Al Drix's influence ate away at Gotham City, while secretly investigating him.
One day, Al Drix came to see him.
With a grave expression, Al Drix said, "I'll have a Bat-Signal worth 200 million dollars made for you. Want to inherit my thirteen commercial streets, five multinational conglomerates, two underworld empires, one gantry crane, and the Romanian vampire construction crew I just dug up? Right now, this instant?"
Bruce: ?
Bruce finally reached a conclusion: Al Drix was probably, one hundred percent, just plain crazy.
