The man smelled good, and the dragon ate his fill. Ni Wen suddenly understood: The dragon had no magic and was in dire straits, while Sentinels had pheromones that could help the dragon recover his magic. Therefore, the dragon would become a Guide and feast on the highest-ranking Sentinels every day! … A strange Guide joined the Guide Center. Though only D-rank, he treated all Sentinels equally. When faced with a Sentinel disfigured and ashamed of his appearance, he would take the man’s hand with a soft laugh and say, “It’s okay. Looks don’t matter, and you smell wonderful. I like it.” When faced with a cruel, short-tempered Sentinel, he would be compassionate and kind, gently pulling him into his arms and letting him release his pheromones as much as he liked. When faced with a Sentinel consumed by the urge to torment others, he would patiently guide him, his alluring voice falling softly by the man’s ear. “It’s okay to go a little crazier. Trust me, hmm?” The Sentinels followed him devotedly, risking their lives in instances and killing pollutants, all for the chance to be purified by their master once.
