Lin Shuiyan is a pretty face with nothing else going for him.

The original is a miraculous boys' love novel set at an elite academy, packed with melodrama, N* [sic], a love-rival free-for-all, class divisions, and all sorts of explosive ingredients, yet somehow ending with a steady one-on-one romance and a happy ending.

Lin Shuiyan is neither the protagonist's love interest nor his love rival. He's the protagonist's childhood friend, and the academy's famously… universally disliked student.

Who does everyone hate? Me?

In the story, he eventually fails to win the protagonist's love, so he takes it out on the protagonist's love interest. In the end, he's dealt a miserable fate by the protagonist's first, second, third, fourth, and countless other harem members.

The System recites the plot up to that point, then tells Lin Shuiyan, “You have a chance now. Work with me, and once you complete the mission, I'll make sure you get a happy ending.”

But…

Lin Shuiyan: “I refuse.”

Lin Shuiyan has always thought the people around him were a little off.

Then one day, the System showed up with a book and told him that the world he lived in was just a story.

F1 is the noble, aloof, germophobic student council president. He looks down on everyone in that lofty tone of his, but after meeting the protagonist, he's drawn to the unique aura the protagonist gives off.

His germophobia disappears, and he's no longer cold and distant. Even a full package of confinement and coercion can't win the protagonist's heart, and in the end, he loses out with regrets.

Is this supposed to be the F1 who spends all day acting like everyone's mom, the school's famous discipline prefect, and even nags me when I don't wear my uniform properly?

Lin Shuiyan was stunned.

F2 is a playboy who's been hanging around all kinds of booze-and-sex venues since childhood and has seen it all. At first he treats the protagonist like a plaything, but eventually falls for him. He can stab himself all he wants, but he still can't get so much as a glance from the protagonist.

Lin Shuiyan: “?”

Are you talking about the F2 who's been allergic to alcohol since childhood, has to check in with his parents every time he goes out, gets only eight hundred in weekly allowance, and even gets timid about going to karaoke with me?

This has to be a bootleg copy, right?

F3 seems gentle but is actually a cold-hearted hypocrite. He's the first to offer the protagonist a helping hand, only to kick him away when he's at his lowest. In the end, he succeeds in chasing his wife to the crematorium.

…In real life, though, he's a study addict who never pays attention to anything beyond his books, and he even wants to drag Lin Shuiyan into studying himself to death all day long.

Then he saw F1, F2, F3, and F4 suddenly appear behind him, all wearing the most terrifying expressions he'd ever seen.

…So they really were just as twisted as the ones in the book.

Lin Shuiyan: “…”

Wait, System, I think I'm ready to give this a shot after all.

Reading Guide:

1. Every love interest is completely pure! Pure in body, mind, and even brain! No flirting between any of the love interests! None!

2. The protagonist is also a love interest, but he's absolutely not a weak or delicate pretty-boy type, okay? No way! He's a handsome love interest who can pick Shuiyan up with one arm!

3. The protagonist is a full-blown heartthrob, even more so than the last novel. “Universally disliked” is just how he's set up in the book. There's no way everyone actually hates him; nobody could hate him.
