My Fellow Writer Insists I Retire from the Business

[Pairing: Young Oda. A sweet little story, main text complete.] I’m one of Yokohama’s top three cleaners. I’ve always worked diligently, thinking I’d pull off a few more big jobs, save enough money, then go straight and retire in comfort. After all, my ability and my underworld codename, “Black Wings,” are both so painfully chuunibyou. I don’t want to be tied to this identity. When I found out someone had hired the number one cleaner to kill me, I thought it over carefully and decided to strike first… then got taken out instead. But the redhead didn’t finish me off. He said he was giving up killing people because he wanted to write a novel and was going straight, then asked if I wanted to join him. My eyes narrowed at once. That excuse was way too flimsy! It was obviously a threat! Knowing when to give in, I agreed through my tears and followed him, trembling with fear. He even said he’d rehabilitate me by getting us both respectable jobs, so I had no choice but to work with him, sobbing, first as a convenience store clerk and then selling bubble tea. After we’d lived together for years and expanded our bubble tea shop, I suddenly realized: Wait a minute! You were actually telling the truth back then?! Please note: 1. A girl who overthinks everything and makes snarky comments, trying to outwit her own imagination, × a naturally black-hearted boy who never makes snarky comments. The odd everyday life of two young cleaners who retired early. A sweet little story, and not very long. Your support is what keeps me writing, so please don’t wait until it’s complete to read! 2.
