I’m Wendy Carter, a Don’t Starve player. When I came out of the spawn point, a giant picked me up and said I was the child she’d accidentally left behind. I suddenly understood: the new world came with a new game setting! So I officially changed my name to Charlotte Wendy Carter. Together with my twin sister, I started a new life in the game with my eight-foot-eight mama. After exploring for a while, Mom said she wanted to establish a kingdom. I wholeheartedly agreed. It was great having a bigger map! Building a base had turned into the main quest of building a kingdom. That meant there had to be even more ways to play! But it seemed I’d loaded too many mods. I couldn’t add friends or use all those friend features. While I was fretting, I found a useful mod: the marriage mod. It let you share friend features, had no limit on how many friends you could have, and even let you share each other’s physical stats. I read the mod’s description, then looked at my mom, who had just dumped husband number twenty and was looking for number twenty-one. It hit me: this was the new companion mod! Companion, but what it really meant was marriage partner. I got it! So I made a list of people I thought would make suitable companions and went down the list, politely asking each one, “Would you marry me?” I thought I was polite and sincere. I just couldn’t figure out why every single one of them got so emotional... I’d carefully considered every candidate and deliberately proposed to people who got along well. Shouldn’t they have been happy to see their friends there, then agreed to marry me together?! * Please note: 1. This is a long version of the “What If” storyline for “While Others Sail, I Farm,” set in the Kingdom of Totto Land.
