Can't We Really Transfer?

On the day I came of age, something strange happened to me: I could see my date of death displayed above my head. I stared at the countdown, which had less than a few years left, and was horrified... Then I discovered that if I changed my plans and did something else, the date would change. I breathed a sigh of relief, but picked up a bad habit: I kept adjusting my life choices, backtracking whenever they didn't feel right, and constantly changing my mind. Then one day, I noticed the date had stopped moving. After turning it over and over in my mind, I decided it must be murder at the hands of my short-tempered, white-haired boss, who'd finally had enough of me pestering him and being obnoxious. It was time to meet some new people and start down a new path in life... So I began looking around for someone who might save me from this predicament. The new coworker, who had quite a few things in common with my boss... Never mind, he didn't seem very reliable. The blond, dark-skinned coworker who didn't get along with the new guy... No, he was a bit too mean to me. The curly-haired cop I ran into by accident while tailing the blond coworker to dig up some dirt on him... Damn it, he nearly hauled me off to the police station. The kind, gentle, capable Three Kingdoms enthusiast I met while trying to find dirt on my BOSS as another way to save myself... Oh no, another cop. The undercover younger brother of that cop, planted in our organization... I'm doomed, he needs me to save him too. The kind high school detective I met by chance... Holy crap, how does the younger brother attract more people who hate him than I do? I kept looking, one person after another. I'd check the mirror, realize I was no use, sigh, and start looking for the next candidate. Eventually, I gave up and decided I was beyond saving, so I might as well lie flat and wait to die... Then, all of a sudden, I discovered that my life had been successfully extended. My gaze grew sharp as I began to agonize over a new question: which one of them is my destined person, the one who was supposed to save my life? And is this a single-choice question or a multiple-choice one? Note: This blurb was archived on 2024.07.09.
