The Wind of Pamir

Wu E, a young woman from southern Jiangxi, comes to Akto County in Kizilsu, Xinjiang, to teach. During the National Day holiday, she travels to Kashgar and other places with fellow volunteers from her hometown, where she unexpectedly runs into Ke Kezhi, the boyfriend she broke up with six months earlier. How did Ke Kezhi pass the civil service exam and secure a position? Why has the woman writer "Wind of the Pamirs," who came to Xinjiang to offer assistance, appeared in a herders' village in Akto? Why is there no record on the police database of the jade seller who gave his life rescuing someone at Baisha Lake? Why did border guard Aliman let an entrant cross the border? Why is Emily, who flies kites, searching for the jade seller's son? Can publishing online fiction overseas help raise the profile of the Kyrgyz epic Manas? How did the volunteer teacher successfully persuade the Manaschi to teach in Mandarin? ... The string of mysteries troubling Wu E is suddenly unraveled over the ten or so days around the National Day holiday. Inspired by teachers from Shanghai and Jiangxi who volunteered to teach, as well as officials sent to assist Xinjiang, the novel celebrates the achievements of the national program supporting Xinjiang and reflects the values of young people today, who unite their personal ambitions with the country's strategic goals.
