The Stele at the Wild Temple

Wang Yan, a young newspaper reporter, had been in love with her boyfriend Leilei for eight years, but they eventually broke up because of their parents' traditional beliefs. She threw herself into work, only to be unexpectedly assigned by her superiors to handle a demolition project. There, she witnessed the joys and sorrows of the old neighborhood: a young man with autism unable to forget his first love, an elderly widow carefully preserving her marriage certificate, a deceased person's will driving a family apart, an extramarital affair that had to be painfully ended... As an outsider stepping into their lives, Wang Yan helped the old neighborhood emerge from its muddled world, while also breaking herself free from a sorrowful fate. She became a renowned scholar and was invited back to her hometown to write an inscription for a rural temple. There, she met villagers she had come to know during the demolition and discovered how drastically their lives had changed.
