Reader Detective: Crime Files

You are the detective.

Lin Yan, captain of the city's criminal investigation squad, receives a case involving a string of murders. The killer, codenamed "The Scribe," leaves a written puzzle at every crime scene, meant for anyone capable of reading the clues. Standard investigative methods can gather physical evidence, but they cannot unravel the metaphors the killer hides in the details. So the team sends you the case files, witness statements, and crime scene photos, asking you to help solve the case remotely.

There is no omniscient point of view, and the truth will not be spoiled in advance.

Turn the pages, and you are receiving case files one by one. When you reach a marked point, you can pause, sort through the clues, and make your own judgment. Every choice changes what witnesses say and which evidence is preserved, and may even lead to a completely different ending.

A sealed room on a rainy night, candlelight in a graveyard, a locked library, a long-buried cold case... One case after another becomes intertwined. The Scribe knows that a "detective between the pages" has entered the investigation, and keeps changing the puzzles to anticipate your deductions. Every suspicion and every decision you make is part of this contest that spans the pages.

Can you see through the witnesses' lies, connect the scattered evidence, and uncover the secret buried many years ago before the Scribe delivers the final judgment?

Be careful, false clues are everywhere. You must find the truth.
