In-Phase Waveform

Emergency attending physician Shen Yi has always been accustomed to making quick decisions amid the surging tide of resuscitations. Beneath his sharp exterior lies a long-unresolved knot in his heart. ICU physician Lu Zhiyu excels at calm observation and weighing the pros and cons, torn between her ideals and the inescapable expectations of her family.

Through countless night shifts under lights that never go out, the transfer of patients between the emergency department and the ICU becomes their unique point of connection. To everyone else, they are simply colleagues who work well together. Only they know that, amid the long, high-pressure night shifts, they are rare kindred spirits.

Department gossip, difficult choices, and a misunderstanding born of bad timing stand in their way. To protect their professional reputations, they are forced to step back, bury their unspoken understanding, and return to strictly professional boundaries.

A transfer notice takes away the nights they once worked side by side. Separated by mountains, rivers, and years, they meet again at an academic conference. At last, they can calmly lay bare the feelings that had been out of sync back then.

There is no need to promise they will be together forever. The waveforms that once resonated in the depths of the night have already become a precious echo on each of their paths as physicians.
