Moon Over the Misty Mountain Fields

Lin Xiaoman quit her job and returned to her hometown. On the barren slope behind the village, she planted her first row of vegetable seedlings. Every morning she watered them, weeded at noon, and recorded each plant's growth in the evening. Life moved as slowly as the mist in the mountains. The villagers laughed at her for making a fuss over nothing, but she knew she wasn't just growing vegetables. She was cultivating the strength to put down roots again. Three months later, the barren slope had become a lush vegetable garden, and the first tomatoes had ripened. Xiaoman crouched at the edge of the field and took a bite. Juice burst across her tongue, and she suddenly understood: farming was never about running away. It was the only way to let your heart truly settle. The appeal of farming stories lies in their realism: the protagonist grows more than crops, reclaiming control over life itself. From spring planting to autumn harvest, every moment of hard work is a chapter woven from sweat and hope.
