The Wutong Tree Keeps Its Promise

Photographer Yun Xiu flees to Nanjing to escape an old love, only to discover that she is beginning to forget the sound of her lover She Chuan's voice. Amid Jinling's autumn charm, she meets the poet Shen Mo. Together, they take plane trees, Qinhuai rain, and Xuanwu Lake's lotus flowers as their imagery, exploring historic sites, recording sounds through painting, and reflecting on memories through poetry. Yun Xiu moves from panic at forgetting to making peace with the past, and with Shen Mo by her side, she comes to understand that “to truly remember is to let love nourish you.” As the old voice fades and a new one finds its way into her heart, the two pledge to spend their lives together beneath the osmanthus rain at Linggu Temple, bringing to life the healing theme that “memories may fade, but warmth endures.”
