A Promise Made at Our First Meeting Among the Flowers

These letters hold so many things I left unsaid when I was with you: the flutter in my heart as we stood side by side beneath the eaves, hesitating to speak; the concern I wrote and rewrote beneath the lamplight; and the “stay a little longer” I couldn't bring myself to say as I watched you turn away. Unable to express these tender feelings, I could only fold them into words, hoping that when you unfold the pages, you'll understand: every pause between the lines, every tenderness beneath the pen, is a deep affection I hid away again and again, hoping only that you would know.
