A Clock of My Own Design

A group of old friends gathers, as usual, to celebrate a birthday at a seaside villa. This time, however, they discover that the world will end in a matter of hours. A physicist and a philosopher argue fiercely: Is time a physical phenomenon, or an external expression of philosophy? The philosopher says nothing, gazing quietly at the tides outside the window. As the end draws closer, everyone thinks there is still plenty of time, only to suddenly understand during their final conversation: time has never been a river flowing evenly, but a narrative woven by human consciousness. The difference between past, present, and future is nothing but a persistent, stubborn illusion. True order does not lie deep within the universe, but in every gathering and every word left unsaid.
