A Post-Apocalyptic Powerhouse Starts a Second Career in the Spirit World

Yuan Ye was born in the zombie apocalypse. Not because his parents were especially gloomy, but because he belonged to the second generation born after the zombie outbreak. In the twenty-third year of the outbreak, Yuan Ye, the most powerful esper, sacrificed himself in the final battle to retake the world from the zombies. Then he closed his eyes, opened them again, and woke up in a haunted house in a supernatural world. After twenty years of apocalypse, the comforts and wonders of modern society were things he'd only heard about in stories. And so he got to live the modern life he'd always wanted, eating watermelon shaped like a human head, cleaning oil paintings of people weeping tears of blood, and watching a TV full of rampaging ghosts. Yuan Ye: The people of this world have some strange tastes... but modern society is amazing! Then a flash flood hit, and a coffin containing a living person washed up outside his mansion, where he cooked up ghost stew. A normal person would have called the police. But in a zombie world, people were cremated where they fell, and there was no funeral culture. After carefully observing the stranger, Yuan Ye concluded that he had a peculiar taste in bedding, and kindly brought him home. The man with peculiar tastes was called Shi Zhuoguang. He was the sixty-second exorcist of the Shi family, and the number alone suggested his family had more than their fair share of melodrama. Shi Zhuoguang had been expected to inherit the family business before he was even born. Unfortunately, he was born without a trace of spiritual power, while his twin younger brother was a once-in-a-generation prodigy. So the eldest son, born without spiritual power, grew up neglected and despised. Later, when his younger brother went missing, Shi Zhuoguang took on the burden of an exorcist at the cost of his own life force. He became an exorcist who lived for others, burning through his life again and again. Yet somehow, despite saving so many people, he became someone everyone both feared and detested. Fate knew why. This world, where ghosts roamed day and night, was nearing its end. Shi Zhuoguang had been born to die. Fate had decreed that he would be born into hatred, live in pain, and be unable to turn a blind eye to a world where evil spirits killed people. Again and again, he would offer his blood and burn his bones, until his last drop of blood was gone and he became the most terrifying ghost in the world. According to fate, he would either become a wicked spirit burdened with sin and drag the whole world into an abyss of annihilation, or be killed by his younger brother, who bore the world's glory, and become the nourishment from which the world would be reborn. Then Yuan Ye said he chose option C. That's right: Yuan Ye brought Shi Zhuoguang home before he could become the Ghost King. Basically, it's the story of a savior esper who spent his whole life fighting zombies, now enjoying the wonderful (and weird) modern life while healing a young master who thinks no one wants him.
