There’s only a tiny black cat. It meows at you, its voice soft and sweet. Following the rule that side characters are bound to get themselves killed, you approach it without a second thought. But the moment you touch the black cat’s head, the three of you are pulled into a distant chapter of history. And so begins a strange adventure. It turns out the Kraken is a shape-shifting octopus, and the black cat is its disguise. It tricked you. It turns out there really are gods in this world, or, at least, there once were. Clean and sweet, a lighthearted romance focused on solving mysteries. The top is nonhuman, while the bottom’s nature is unclear. It features many foreign myths. 3. The author’s tastes are beautiful. Think of an old-school Japanese single-player game, like Hot Summer Paradise: a monster-taming visual novel focused on the experience more than the plot. (At a reader’s request, here’s a warning: the protagonist’s true form is the Black Goat listed among the supporting characters. Some worlds feature a cloaca, but the character is not intersex. Look up the Black Goat if you want to know what it is. The Outer Gods don’t have a fixed sex; since the main body in the story is male, this is a danmei story. If you can’t make sense of it, think of him as an omega, not intersex. The Black Goat necessarily has biological offspring, but the way an Outer God reproduces is completely different from the way humans do! I strongly recommend looking up the Black Goat before reading.
