The Rumored Resource Darling

Xu Mengyuan's rise to fame came fast and furious.

Overnight, it seemed like he was everywhere. The biggest names in show business were all happy to bring him along.

An arthouse director invited him to star in a film aiming for the competition section at Cannes. A diva invited him to appear in her comeback music video. A top-tier star kept mentioning him on variety shows. There were even rumors that he was on this year's Spring Festival Gala lineup.

Who exactly was this guy?

Sure, he was handsome and had a great figure, but weren't these opportunities a little too much?

Xu Mengyuan: Thanks for asking. Welcome to witness the first year of my success after years of hard work.

·

It started with a chance encounter at an underground film festival back when they were students. Xu Mengyuan paid for a bottle of water for Luo Yun, who didn't have any change. The man gave Xu Mengyuan a business card, then wrote down his private number and said he could call anytime to collect on the favor.

He kept his word.

Xu Mengyuan used that card to get a villain role in a crime thriller, a beloved second male lead in a youth film, and a dinner invitation with a director of a New Year's film.

Thanks to Luo Yun's special favor, the card had no spending limit, and could buy Xu Mengyuan almost anything in show business.

Later, he met more and more people, and it became easier and easier to get what he wanted.

Luo Yun took back the business card and handed him a new one.

A hotel key card.

Xu Mengyuan: What do you mean?

Luo Yun asked in return: You haven't dated anyone all these years. Weren't you waiting for this?

As if he'd just heard a joke, Xu Mengyuan gently set the key card on the table.
