A Honey Trap Built from Scratch

* Pre-release: The Secret to Getting Away with Everything in the Detective Conan Universe This story has [Reader Advisory/Please Check the Warnings First]. The cover uses publicly available commercial-use assets. Thanks for your concern, everyone~ : How did you die in your previous life? : No idea! I was willing to take the fall for Gin and hide out at the bottom of the organization under a codename. That's a pretty miserable way to live, right? And I still couldn't escape the kill order! Damn Rum! : So what will you do in this life? : First, I'll climb the ranks in the organization, then wait for a chance to get revenge. I think this mission to [Infiltrate the Metropolitan Police Department] is perfect. : How did you feel after joining the police academy? : Oh man, did you know Bourbon and Scotch are not only undercover agents, but childhood friends too? So being undercover really is just a change of skin? When you interrogated me in that blood-soaked room in my previous life, it wasn't like this, Scotch! Is this straight-laced guy really the same Bourbon who knows how to use a honey trap? : A few years later, you... : Yes, he can, but he insists I taught him. I'm so wronged. All I did was not turn him down when he confessed and asked me out. And then, when we met again inside the organization, I went to a hotel with Gin right in front of him. That's all. : What do you think of Mr. Bourbon? : Yes, it's all about using him, no love involved... Maybe a little. Just a tiny bit. : The plan to capture Rum failed. : That's okay. I'll fake my death with drugs, change my face, and make myself younger. I can do it. : This handsome blond man with dark skin doesn't seem willing to leave. : Get lost! Who are you calling his daughter? : Any words that have stuck with you? : Vermouth once told me, "Don't underestimate Bourbon. Watch out for his honey trap. If he uses it on you, there's no telling whether he'll skin you alive and suck out your bones, little fox." Qi Yue regretted it bitterly: If only she'd known this would happen, she would've pasted those words to her forehead and read them every day! [Reader Advisory/Please Check the Warnings First] = Neither the male nor female lead is pure and innocent. Both have negative traits, such as obsession, madness, and coldness. They are not paragons of virtue. = The writing style isn't pure and innocent either. I recommend checking the chapter list and the featured long reviews in the comments before reading. Proceed with caution! = Some parts reveal a dramatic twist first and explain it later. It's normal if some readers can't accept that, but extreme comments and baseless speculation aren't welcome and will be deleted. Just letting you know in advance. = The female lead isn't a strong female character, and she's not purely on the side of the good guys. She's determined to get revenge herself, and pays a price for it. = Due to the complexity of the female lead's emotions, relationships, and the story's values, Gin and Vermouth don't get clearly defined good or bad endings at the end, though they survive. This is deliberately left unwritten, so please don't read if that bothers you. = The police academy group won't be killed off. = Characters may be somewhat out of character. Please don't read if that bothers you. = Primarily Detective Conan, with other settings as background. ---- Pre-release: The Secret to Getting Away with Everything in the Detective Conan Universe ---- Naoko was already a tyrant at the police academy, bullying her classmates every day. After joining the Metropolitan Police Department, her powerful connections made her even more unstoppable. Punching detectives, kicking Public Security agents; Beating up suspects, pummeling her own teammates. The Metropolitan Police Department fell into chaos, and the National Police Agency repeatedly upgraded its security system just to keep her at bay. Any officer who gets close to Naoko should prepare for filing complaints and writing self-criticisms to become part of their daily routine. And yet the victims are more than happy to put up with it. "Can't be helped. Our Naoko is a little black cat with jade-green eyes and pink paw pads~" So far, the "Evil Kitty Operation" has included: Using the curly-haired officer's hair as a foot warmer; Sleeping on the sociable officer's abs; Ruining the class president's alone time with his girlfriend; Chewing up the alarm clock of the overachieving mixed-race guy; Making a Public Security undercover agent prepare a deluxe cat meal; Pinning down an FBI agent's sniper rifle to eat a cat treat; Forcing Vermouth's dog to be her mount; Grabbing Gin's long coat and swinging on it... Oh, that one didn't work. Maybe next time she can use that Porsche as a scratching post. Ahem, meow absolutely has no bad intentions, 0w0 By day, she is a conscientious police cat, a cop in all but name. At night, she transforms into Catwoman, roaming the streets and alleys to protect this extraordinary city. Well, she does sometimes take human form, but seems to get into trouble because she "can't talk"... "Who's Scotch? Oh, he's one of my owners. Um... one of them." "Matsuda is nice and warm. Perfect for sleeping on." "The last two nights? Bourbon held me while I slept." "No, Hagiwara won't let me go out without a collar and leash." Whenever the black-haired, green-eyed girl says things like this with utter seriousness and innocent sincerity, it means someone's reputation is about to suffer. Some of her most tormented victims cry out that they're innocent. "Wait, Class President Date, what's with that look? Why are you pulling out handcuffs?!" Naoko: 0w0 Anyway (kitty gazes upward) (proud face), this world can't do without cats!!! [Rules for Raising a Cat: Please Remember!] * The cat has a System and gets an enormous golden finger. * Naoko isn't really a cat (though sometimes she's a bit of a dog), but her thoughts and actions are influenced by animals. * Everything the cat says is right. If it's wrong, it's the guardians' fault. Also known as: "Cats Save the World," "Fluff Makes Everything Reasonable," and "Meow Is Number One in the World" Theme: Even a tiny seed fights to survive. Life is precious, and all life is equal.
