For the Record, I'm a Serious Tennis Player

[Reader Advisory: This story has a lot of Conan and mystery-solving plot. Check the table of contents first, and don't read if that bothers you. Be sure to read the blurb's content warnings.] After April Fools' Day, Miyamoto Yucha suddenly acquired a "Knowledge Quiz System," and his peaceful life was gone for good. * On his first day in the Rikkai tennis club, he struggles to ask: "Captain, um, what month and day is your birthday?" "Heh, Miyamoto, are you planning to get me a present?" * While everyone else is focused on how well the Hyotei tennis club captain plays: "...What are you doing?" "Um, you smell really nice." * Facing his childhood friend, now a grade-schooler, he asks a gossipy question that gives him a headache: "How are things going with Ran?" "Hahaha, Yucha 'big brother,' what are you talking about?" * At Poirot Cafe, testing the "waiter": "If you don't mind me asking, do you have any enemies?" "I'm sorry, would you like a glass of bourbon?" * Visiting his neighbor and friend, who has an extremely low presence: "Did you have fun playing basketball today?" "Are you asking if I was ignored again today, Miyamoto?" Every day at midnight, the System issues a new question, always about a friend or someone he is about to meet. He has until midnight that day to answer correctly. Otherwise, he will be punished. Miyamoto Yucha: "..." #How can I pry into my friends' private lives?#+ #Wait, why are they looking at me differently? I'm not trying to pay special attention to you!# #For the record, I'm a perfectly respectable person# Mostly supernatural tennis, with the grade-schooler staying in grade school forever. A little basketball and volleyball. [Content warning: To move the plot along, the System will force the protagonist to do things during the first ten chapters. Don't read if that bothers you. No need to say anything, and malicious downvotes will be reported.] Blurb captured on 2021.02.23 Revised 03.03 Coming soon: After Fuzzy Conan Characters Come to the Rescue (The blurb may be revised before publication, but the core concept will stay the same~) It all began when, as a child, he "heard" the cat next door, from the Morofushi family, "talking." The cat was shocked to learn that he understood "cat language," then called over the dog from the Furuya family. The cat and dog started barking and meowing at each other. By then, he'd learned he'd unlocked the [Animal Language] skill, along with a nightmare package: [Possess a pet at night and witness its owner's death]. So far, it was manageable. He just had to keep a spare pair of soundproof earplugs or noise-canceling headphones handy. But he never expected the cat and dog to start acting like "prophets," too. What did they mean by "that child the Morofushi family just adopted will die someday" and "the kid named Zero really will become zero someday"? He didn't understand, but making two new friends, specifically human ones, through this strange coincidence still lifted his spirits. That is, until they agreed to pursue careers in law enforcement. Life became endlessly eventful. One day, the dog complained to him that "my friend is acting like a terrible person"; the next, the cat urged him to go catch the bad guys. Every day, they kept muttering things in his ear like [Zero has it so rough] [Hagi has it so rough] [Matsuda has it so rough]. The fuzzy friends reported on people every day, and he had a headache every day. Aolu Che, grumbling: I really have my work cut out for me with you guys! In the real world, as Scotland held a dog in his arms, a scene suddenly flashed before his eyes: [The black-haired young man, gentle and innocent in his memory, stands coldly in a pool of blood. His gray-blue right eye stares impassively at the dagger in his hand. Blood drips, drop by drop, onto the ground. Nearby, a uniformed policeman lies with his throat slit, eyes still open in death.] The second time, the third time, the fourth time... Different people saw different scenes. Their classmates: "..." #Something unbelievable seems to be happening# #Wait, Aolu, what are you doing?!# Meanwhile, Aolu Che, completely unaware of all this and still hard at work on the front lines of kicking ass: Should I possess Zero's dog Haro again tonight?
