A War Without Subjects

The Ace of Spades was the biggest card in the deck. It couldn't stand having the Jokers in the way, so it drove them out. Then it resented the other cards for forming pairs and outranking it, so it kicked out the 2, 6, and 8. Finally, it drove away every card that could form a straight. The entire deck was left with just the Ace of Spades. When its owner returned and saw a box with only one card inside, he casually tossed it in the trash. Before the Ace of Spades could boast about how “big” it was, it was hauled away with the garbage.
