Don't Pet Dogs on the Head!

[Strongly recommended next story: Open Up, Your Beagle Is Here!] Shen Ye was a wage slave. After he died, he never expected to wake up as a dog, with a strange System bound to him that said, “Don't pet a dog's head without permission.” The System's rule was that whoever petted his head first would become his new owner. Shen Ye decided to take the opportunity to lie flat and find a rich family, so he could enjoy an easy life as a dog. Then he got hit by a bicycle. The person riding it frowned, picked him up, and took him to the pet hospital. The good news was that he wasn't badly hurt. The bad news was that the man had petted his head. The even worse news was that taking him to the pet hospital had used up the man's last bit of money. Bound by the System's rules, Shen Ye had no choice but to follow behind the man with his tail between his legs. He watched the man rise from nothing and prepare to make it big, only for him to be poisoned to death by a dog-poisoning bastard. When Shen Ye opened his eyes again, he was back in his own body. Dirt poor, he immediately sent in his resume and got a job at the biggest interior design group in the city. Then he saw a photo in the CEO's office. The dog in the picture looked familiar. It was him. People at the company told him, “That dog meant a lot to the boss.” So much that after its death, plenty of people gave Zhou Jiming dogs of all kinds: expensive ones, and ones that looked exactly like it. Zhou Jiming turned them all down. Shen Ye was stunned. Had dogs started getting substitutes these days too? * Zhou Jiming had risen from a poor kid to the head of a publicly traded company. The only one he could never forget was the dog that had shared his hardships. It had never looked down on him for being poor, and had always trusted and relied on him. But just as he was about to make it, the dog died. The loss became a thorn Zhou Jiming could never forget, until he saw someone at his company Maybe it was just his imagination, but the way that person looked at him felt familiar. Like his dog had become a person. Reading guide: 1. Six thousand words per day, ten thousand on weekends. 2. Updates at 9 p.m. (If there's an extra chapter, it will be posted at midnight.)
