One of Michael's rules for angelic life:
Either don't do it, or see it through to the bitter end.
With the ruthlessness to kill anyone who stood in his way, be they gods or Buddhas, and the malice to be warm and friendly one moment and strike without mercy the next, Michael was invincible in Heaven.
They say evil people live forever. Perhaps he really was so ruthless that he earned the hatred of gods and men alike. After the War of the Morning Star, Michael successfully rose to power and became the right hand of God, the undisputed number one in Heaven.
An angel who has managed to live as well as Michael has can consider his life a success.
In his career, he single-handedly led Heaven through a hundred thousand years of rapid development. He was Heaven's universally acknowledged workaholic, holding two major positions at once: Deputy Ruler of Heaven and commander of the Angelic Legion. He handled both government and military affairs, and somehow transformed a medieval world where people prayed to get their work done and flew around naked to a modern society full of internet access, food delivery, and teleportation arrays.
In his marriage, he was lucky enough to wed the Left Hand of the Heavenly Ruler. Together, they had the fruit of their love, Haniya, the little prince of Heaven. He and Metatron spent a hundred thousand years deeply in love, the envy of everyone in Heaven.
As for romance, he had dumped a Demon King and slept with a Vampire Emperor. He had flirted with every big name in the Three Realms, and was known for having lovers everywhere and exes across all three realms.
What's more, he was the kind of person who could pass through a crowd of beauties without letting a single one leave a mark. He shamelessly attracted admirers, then tossed them aside once he had them, calling it a clean break.
So the Three Realms' many opinions of the Deputy Ruler of Heaven could all be summed up in eight words:
War God of the Three Realms, playboy.
Michael: ...It's not his fault he's so charming, is it??
If everything had gone his way, Michael's greatest wish would have been for the Three Realms to never reconnect.
He never wanted to see that troublesome bunch of exes again.
Unfortunately, things didn't go according to plan, and a bombshell came with it:
The god who had lain asleep since the War of the Morning Star created a fourth realm, at the cost of the dissolution of his divine status.
#When an angel's unlucky, even a drink of water can go down the wrong way#
#Good things are one in a million, while bad things always come in a row#
What else could he do?
Run!
As soon as the Three Realms' Exchange Conference ended, Michael used work as an excuse and dashed off to the Fourth Realm.
But once he got there, Michael realized it would have been better not to come at all.
Who the hell could tell him why all his exes had run here too?!
[Bonus Scene]
Michael had hated Lucifer for three hundred thousand years: resentment for the first two hundred thousand, then a twisted hatred etched into his soul for the next hundred thousand.
But when that angel bent down and gently kissed away the tears at the corners of his eyes, Michael's heart still trembled for him.
Michael never thought he loved Lofis. He could be kind to him, and he could also plunge the holy sword of flame into his chest with his own hands.
But he could still wager his life on Lofis's wish and help him get what he wanted.
If he had another life, Michael wouldn't want to meet any of them again.
But there are no ifs.
Plainly ordinary master of keeping everyone happy, Michael × exes who each have their own way of making it work.
