Michael is God's second creation, the Prince of Heaven, Lord of Light, Archangel of Fire, commander of the angelic host, and ruler of the Fifth Heaven.
But in Michael's eyes, he has another, more important identity:
Lucifer's deputy.
The true ruler of Heaven, the Radiant Morning Star, the deputy of Lucifer, the Archangel.
All angels know that wherever the Radiant Morning Star is, the Prince of Heaven is sure to be there too.
They are two souls born as one, the best of friends, companions, and soulmates.
If not for that one misstep, Michael might have been friends with Lucifer for the rest of his life.
But the world has no ifs.
To Michael, one night of foolishness was a trivial matter, a speck of dust he could brush away with ease.
Even if the other party was Lucifer, the angel he considered the most important being in his life.
He hadn't done anything wrong.
At most, he had simply chosen not to love him.
Lucifer had once loved an angel. From the beginning of creation through the passing of ages, he stayed by his side for a full hundred thousand years.
But from falling in love to getting married and having a child, that angel had never once looked his way.
Even after they crossed the line that night, their relationship was, in the angel's words, nothing more than "friends."
Lucifer gave up hope.
Michael had always known how Lucifer felt about him.
He had no interest in the eternally radiant, immaculate Morning Star, yet he deliberately trampled on the sincere love Lucifer had placed before him.
Michael admitted that he was jealous of Lucifer.
They were both Primordial Angels, yet Lucifer surpassed him in every way. Everyone would remember the first, but no one would pay attention to the second.
If he couldn't have everything Lucifer had, then he would rather destroy it all.
For that, he even used himself as bait, dragging the pure, flawless angel from before God's throne into the abyss of desire.
When Lucifer loved Michael, Michael looked down on him.
Later, when Lucifer fell to Hell, Michael was willing to abandon his wife and child, just to remain by the throne of Hell for eternity.
In the end, he was the one who lost this game that had lasted across ages.
[Little scene]
Lucifer once asked Michael why he said he didn't like him, yet was willing to fall with him.
At first, Michael always said he was tired of Heaven and had come down to find somewhere else to live.
Later, Michael admitted that he simply couldn't accept it.
The place by Lucifer's side, once his alone, would be occupied by another being.
Lucifer would never know that Michael had never spoken of the passionate love he had hidden for a hundred thousand years.
The desire and devotion concealed beneath trust, admiration, and friendship, and buried under jealousy, struggle, and lies.

Notes:
1. Michael is a dark character. At first, he appears to be Lucifer's friend and loyal subordinate. Later, he deliberately seduces him and deceives him, body and soul. At his core, he is someone who longs for what he cannot have and holds a devout faith.
2. At first, Lucifer pursues Michael. Later, Michael pursues Lucifer.
Theme: Only faith can transcend time and death
