We're a Perfectly Legitimate Organization

[Chapters 67-99 have been rewritten, updates will be slow] [Coming soon: "The Great Detective's Mastermind Role-Playing Game." Please add it to your reading list!] After the Invasionists were wiped out, the Librarian brought the literary masters to settle in the modern world. To help them fit in, the Librarian founded the Literary Detectives Agency, taking the world's nature into account. At the same time, an organization named the Imperial Library appeared, with its members using literary masters' names as codenames. Before long, the name Imperial Library struck fear into the hearts of the underworld By day, they were brilliant detectives and literary masters who loved writing books. By night, they were hunters lurking in the shadows, using the cold gleam of their weapons to cut down the evil hiding in the dark. Rumor had it that they appeared and vanished without a trace, able to be in Tokyo one moment and Osaka the next. Rumor had it they were so powerful they seemed inhuman, able to catch bullets with their bare hands and remain unharmed by blades and bullets. Rumor had it they could live forever, return from the dead, and wield power like the gods. Librarian: Wait, how did the rumors get so outrageous? He turned to see Dazai chasing after the great master Akutagawa, Miyazawa and Tanizaki huddled together chatting about picture books, and the martial artist Shiga in the kitchen experimenting with 108 ways to eat pumpkin... Then he looked down at the tax bill in his hand, along with the reward money for helping others and reporting wanted criminals. They were a perfectly respectable organization that obeyed the law and paid their taxes on time! The Red Side: That's right, I can vouch for them. They couldn't be more respectable. The Black Side, driven to despair: They're obviously sinister, crafty, terrifying, and so powerful it's horrifying... (10,000 words omitted here) * Underling: Boss, we've had an undercover agent at the Imperial Library for three years. Boss: So, have they gotten any intel on immortality? Underling: No. The agent says they're joining the Library and says goodbye to us. [Notes] * Bungo and Detective Conan crossover. * The Librarian is simply called Librarian, and is male. * There is a little content about saving the police academy group, but not much. * Lighthearted, slice-of-life, no angst, with a little bit of the characters getting picked on. * Ensemble cast, with no fixed point-of-view protagonist. * More to be added... Coming soon: BL fanfiction, "The Great Detective's Mastermind Role-Playing Game." Pairing: Ranpo x Saihara, no fixed top or bottom. When Ranpo opened his eyes, he found himself in a different world, with a Monokuma System in his head and a detective named Saihara beside him, who had also come from another world. Not only that, they discovered that they had taken the place of the boss of an organization in this world. The Monokuma System said, "If you want to go home, then play the mastermind in this world properly, puku-puku!" Ranpo: I don't want to do this. Saihara: *clutches chest in pain* And so an Armed Detective Agency appeared in Beika Town. Its president had eyes that could see through to the truth, and no crime could escape his notice. He never showed his face, yet solved countless cases remotely. Meanwhile, the distillery gained a member with the codename Porto. Rumor had it that he behaved strangely and loved nothing more than exposing people's deepest secrets and driving them to despair. Everyone steered clear of him, and nobody knew what he looked like. The two identities had nothing to do with each other, until a certain grade-schooler who had unexpectedly joined the agency realized that the president's assistant seemed to be a member of the Black Organization, while a certain overworked undercover agent received intel that Porto seemed very interested in that president. One big and one small: Oh no, the president's been targeted! To protect the president, whose powers of deduction were formidable, from being harmed by the organization, both sides investigated thoroughly. But the deeper they dug, the stranger things got. Why was the president's assistant Hiro? Why was Porto's partner Matsuda? Why was Porto solving the agency's cases? Why was the president showing up in the organization's missions? Why?! - Because he is himself, and they are each other. "The detective is the mastermind." Theme: Obey the law, and don't do anything illegal.
