How to Become a Savior in Yokohama

Cen Yan, a veteran streamer and master of video games, comes across a game advertised as having no tutorial and a level of freedom so high it’s like stepping into another world. Who could turn down a world with such a high degree of freedom?! Cen Yan certainly couldn’t. The promotional page was as crude as a century-old classified ad, but Cen Yan was bored out of his mind and had nothing better to do, so he immediately downloaded it. He wanted to see whether the game was really as advertised. Minimalist style, maximum enjoyment. [Welcome to the starter town of Yokohama! Begin exploring the world!] A strange person has recently appeared in Yokohama. He comes and goes without a trace and seems capable of anything, showing up anywhere and doing the most baffling things. Recent examples include an entire greenbelt disappearing overnight and a horse-headed person drag racing in the middle of the night... Every bizarre incident is his doing. All common sense fails to apply to him, and no one knows his purpose, his motives, or where he came from. The people of Yokohama live in constant fear, terrified of being attacked out of nowhere. Finally, after his inexplicable comings and goings caused widespread panic, a righteous person stepped in and locked him up. But it didn’t last long. The next day, the man reappeared in Yokohama, completely unharmed. Cen Yan: Sorry, but if you pay to win, you can do whatever you want. Everyone in Yokohama: What the hell are you?! The game was so open-ended that Cen Yan got stuck in the starter town for a whole month. After such a humiliating defeat, he began to wonder if he was playing wrong. Maybe he should try another approach, like dealing with the source of the problem. He immediately spent 648 yuan in the in-game store on a rocket launcher, hoping to solve everything with Patrick Star-style artistry. Unfortunately, he didn’t manage to solve the source of the problem. Instead, a version update prompt kicked him out of the game first. When he logged back in after the update, Cen Yan felt like a whole new world had opened up to him. [Welcome to Yokohama: Post-Apocalyptic Survival! Choose your faction: vampire or human.] So that’s it! This is a series of challenge stages! Cen Yan suddenly understood everything. After a bit of playing around, he managed to unlock both “Gentle Savior” and “Terrifying Vampire Progenitor” at the same time. Saving the world, but as the Fourth Calamity.jpg The people of Yokohama discovered that ever since the strange man showed up, one bizarre event after another had struck the city. A vampire outbreak brought on the apocalypse. An apocalyptic virus arrived, people fought over the King’s power, and giant robots appeared. Demons from the Taisho era returned, triggering an extermination campaign. Finally, someone who called himself a King of the Crosses appeared with a giant sword floating over his head, starting a multi-faction battle royale... Every kind of strange thing happened. None of this was good news for a kind Russian man who only wanted a world full of ordinary people. After being tormented again and again, he couldn’t help wondering if this world could still be saved... And what on earth was that young man? Why was he even here...? Cen Yan: Because the first time we met, you punched me right in the... uh, heart. Fyodor: ... He understood now. This man was definitely getting revenge for the times Fyodor had killed him with his ability after Cen Yan stole his cloak! [Notes] 1. The protagonist is a player.
