[Crossover] A Gemstone and a Mafia Member

★Please be sure to read the blurb all the way to the end!!! -- As a diamond with a hardness of 10, Palmer is ashamed of breaking. Rutile Lucille tests his body by tapping it with a little hammer. "Don't forget to account for toughness." Palmer flies into a rage. "Quack! My toughness is second only to Bort's!" Lucille replies nonchalantly, "Got it, the perennial runner-up." The purple diamond has a mild temper, unless someone calls him brittle. If the battle-crazed Bort wants to pick a fight with him, all it takes is a taunt about his toughness. It works every time. Palmer patrols alone with an obsidian sword slung over his shoulder, grumpily counting on his fingers how many times he has shattered over the past three thousand years. Then he misses a step-- With a clatter, he shatters. Once he has finally been pieced back together, the moment he regains consciousness he starts complaining. "Quack, your medical skills have gotten worse. It took you so long to put me back together... I still need to settle the score with Bort. This time, it's all his fault I shattered--" Looking at the ancient life-form in a white coat before him, who is clearly not Rutile and is called a "human," Palmer swallows the rest of his complaints. Mori "Underground Doctor" Ogai: "Sorry, is your ability to turn your body into diamond? Diamond is brittle, and you shattered into so many pieces. It took me quite a while to put you back together." #A diamond falls from the sky# #Using forensic skills to do gemstone restoration work# After holding it in for as long as he can, Palmer, furious at being called brittle, draws his sword. "You're the brittle one, you pitiful ancient life-form!" My personal take, lots of headcanons, and the timeline is a mess. Palmer will not turn into a human, but he can take on a human-like form. In the gem world, he and Yellow Diamond are almost lovers, though neither of them realizes it. The pairing was decided by a vote: it's Mori! There will be a golden finger, but I love the shattered beauty of the gem people, so a little shattering is good for your health. -- I'm a fan of the whole cast, so please don't make malicious remarks about characters, such as "Let them all shatter," "Phos is always dragging everyone down," or "The teacher has turned into a green tea schemer." I'll delete such comments if I see them. The idea that "bones are heartless" is wrong, though I may make jokes about it. -- The gem people are genderless. Following the manga, I use "he" for them, and they call each other "brother." Please don't define them by male or female gender. In ancient and modern usage, "he" can refer to men, women, and all things; in ancient times, sisters could also call each other "brother." Likewise, please don't use "it" to refer to the gem people. I like their genderless nature, and I hope everyone will respect it. Of course, the characters in this story may misjudge Palmer's gender because of their own subjective views. -- That's all. I hope you'll understand, and thank you. -- This story is also known as Shine Bright Like a Diamond. The theme and the story's central idea are both inspired by the song "Diamonds." Theme: We're beautiful like diamonds in the sky.
