Is There Anything Wrong With Just Wanting to Survive?

Aoki Gen was a heaven-blessed prodigy whose name made everyone sigh with regret. He had extraordinary talent for painting and an incredibly mysterious supernatural ability. The two complemented each other, making him seem born to paint. Unfortunately, an accident during the Dragon Head War left someone severing the tendons in his hands, making it impossible for him to paint ever again. In a single night, the dazzling prodigy became a pitiful figure who inspired nothing but sympathy. Aoki Gen himself took it surprisingly well. He even started making a living by selling paintings. They were all old works he had painted in the past, but precisely because the supply was limited, their prices soared to astronomical heights and they still sold out immediately. It was all because his ability could still take effect in his old works. But the chain reaction caused by his ability spiraling out of control during the Dragon Head War forced him to interact directly with the outside world, and the many layers of his true nature were gradually exposed. Faced with a young executive skilled at manipulating people's hearts, Aoki Gen had no choice but to put on another disguise. "Sorry, ever since someone severed the tendons in my hands last time, my health has been failing day by day. I'm kept alive by medication, and my mind has already moved into my paintings." The boy in the painting regretfully drew back the curtain. Behind the heavy bed curtains lay what looked like his own dying body. Faced with the orange-haired executive, who often showed him a measure of concern, Aoki Gen tried to make him back off. "I'm sorry, but I've actually become a vampire. I can only hide from sunlight and people. Otherwise, my vampire instincts will make me lose control and bite someone." The boy in the painting opened the door through his tears. Behind it was a pitch-black room, with his inhuman true form chained in a corner, unable to touch the sunlight. Faced with the free-spirited spatial ability user who kept coming to his house to gather information, Aoki Gen decided to find a way to remove him from the game. "You'll have to live freely in my place, Gogol." The boy in the painting stood in a fairytale-like world and said this helplessly. Behind him, crimson petals as hot as blood scattered through the air, bursting from a gun's muzzle, carrying a tangle of emotion and regret. Many people tried to sound Aoki Gen out, but not one of them ever figured out what he was after. Even when the other person finally "died," it was still the same. Aoki, ability: "Free Country" "The paradise you yearn for, the bizarre and wondrous world you pursue: all of it lies beneath my brush." "I love this chaotic world filled with supernatural abilities. For that, I will stop at nothing." [Pairing] Gogol [Notes] 1. No crossovers with other works. 2. The protagonist is a "layer cake" with a talent for disguise. He seems to be slacking off in all kinds of ways, but is secretly making moves. 3. The protagonist is formidable in both intelligence and ability, and will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. 4. Lots of original worldbuilding. No secondary pairings. 5. Slight Gogol character-bashing, not much. There is a lot of original European plot later on. 6. Everyone has their own understanding of the characters. I'm very sorry if anyone seems out of character. 7. In this story, Gogol has golden eyes.
