Nonhuman University

When Jiang Yang was eleven, no owl arrived to change his fate. But at eighteen, after failing the college entrance exam and going out to find work, he unexpectedly met a weasel delivering his admission letter. Jiang Yang excitedly grabbed the weasel's paw. "Why did you take so long to deliver it?" The weasel: "Because we use China Mustelid Post." Jiang Yang: "..." The weasel: "Just kidding." For the first eighteen years of his life, Jiang Yang believed he was a pure-blooded human. But after an accident, he awakened phoenix fire and was accepted into a university for monsters. Before the school year began, since he knew nothing about the hidden world, the weasel took him to find a teacher for summer tutoring. As the only phoenix in the world, Lu Shiming was a loner, and an air of cold indifference that kept others at a distance always surrounded him. To persuade Lu Shiming to take Jiang Yang on as a student, the weasel tried to ingratiate himself. "Everyone knows that phoenix fire is a magic only phoenixes can use. And you're the only phoenix in the world, Teacher Lu, so he might be related to you. Maybe he's your illegitimate son, abandoned somewhere. Come on, Jiang Yang, call him Daddy." Jiang Yang: "..." Lu Shiming: "..." That was Jiang Yang's first meeting with Lu Shiming. He remembered how Lu Shiming had silently gazed at him for a long while that day, his handsome face showing a trace of distant indifference. But the red feather earring on his left ear lent him a few captivating touches of color. Just as Jiang Yang was sure Lu Shiming would refuse, he heard the man say coolly: "Call me Teacher." Jiang Yang had thought it was strange enough to receive an admission letter delivered by a weasel. Later, he discovered Panda Express, with pandas working as delivery drivers; cat cafes run by cat demons that were classified as disreputable establishments and off-limits to minors; classmates who could turn into fluffy animals at any moment; foxes with questionable professional ethics who were always tempting students with their tails; and his phoenix teacher, supposedly cold and aloof, who rolled up his sleeves to bake little cookies for him... At eighteen, Jiang Yang's life took a turn, and the curtain on a whole new world slowly rose before his eyes. Student bottom x teacher top. (The teacher isn't actually employed at a school and doesn't teach there. He only tutors Jiang Yang one-on-one at home. They call each other teacher and student, but their relationship is more like that of a master and disciple.) Here's a preview of my upcoming novel, The Emperor Is Actually the Galaxy's Most Wanted Fugitive. Please add it to your reading list, mwah~=3= In the year 3287 of the Star Calendar, the nobility had grown powerful while the imperial family had fallen into decline. More than twenty years after the imperial bloodline was believed to have died out, a young stowaway was suddenly found to possess royal blood. To leap from a commoner born at the bottom of society to a noble member of the imperial family was an enviable stroke of luck, even if he had such low psychic power that he couldn't pilot a mech and was destined to be a powerless puppet. Only the stowaway himself didn't see it that way. Bai Qi: "Calling it luck is an insult to me. This was all thanks to my own hard work." After all, he'd put in a lot of effort to fake that identity. * To investigate a long-forgotten case, Bai Qi impersonated an imperial heir and placed himself at the side of Randall, one of the seven great nobles. On the surface, he was obedient and compliant, dutifully serving as a hostage puppet in Randall's hands. In secret, he ran wild, quickly turning his secret identity into the Empire's most wanted fugitive and the bane of every noble's existence. Randall also issued a warrant for his arrest, but the charges were different from the treasonous crimes the other nobles accused him of: reckless driving and illegal entry. But Bai Qi figured the real charge Randall wanted to arrest him for was hooliganism. After all, while running wild under his secret identity, he'd often flirted with the stern, dignified, humorless duke. But it didn't matter. They could charge him with whatever they liked. They'd never catch a sly fox skilled in lies and deception, just as they'd never realized that the galaxy's most notorious, cunning fugitive and the meek, unassuming puppet heir were one and the same. That was what Bai Qi thought, until one day his plan unexpectedly fell apart. On the battlefield against alien species, where the Empire's fate was decided, and in front of the whole galaxy's live broadcast cameras, the Sun God Sur, the first-ranked of the seven S-class mechs, had lost its pilot when the imperial bloodline died out. Yet it was awakened by the galaxy's most wanted fugitive. And when the fugitive removed his disguise, the face beneath it belonged to the puppet prince everyone had dismissed as useless. The public uproar, the sudden upheaval in the political landscape, and the question of how a fake could activate the Sun God Sur were not what Bai Qi needed to worry about right now. He watched Randall walking slowly toward him, and had only one thought: Do princes have immunity from hooliganism charges? Urgent, waiting for an answer online. Theme: Study hard and keep improving every day.
