I’m Deficient in Virtue

[Coming soon: After the Background Character Binds to JJ Literature City] Please add it to your reading list, mwah! The eldest young master of the Jiang family was born with a special constitution: he had neither yin energy nor yang energy. His grandfather calculated that he was destined for misfortune and an early death, so he needed to do good deeds and accumulate virtue to extend his life. So Jiang Ciwu, who spent his days eating, drinking, having fun, and loafing around, inherited his grandfather’s incense shop after it went under. By day, the incense shop was empty. By night, it was teeming with ghosts. Looking at the ferocious evil spirits, Jiang Ciwu grinned. “Thanks, Mother Nature, for the generous gift.” The next day, the incense shop held a grand opening event: “Giving back to the public! Try your hand at ghost-catching, just one hundred per person.” “Limited spots, first come, first served. You’re not allowed to take them home.” The ghosts: “???” * Later on, Jiang Ciwu became famous in both the yin and yang realms, and the media from both worlds scrambled to interview him. He kept a straight face as he spouted nonsense: “I subdue ghosts with virtue, transcend the Five Elements, and stand beyond the Six Realms.” “Even the King of Hell has to call me Boss Jiang when he sees me.” His grandfather: “???” The King of Hell: “Indeed.” Weibo: @JiujiuDaWangYa The cover character design was commissioned from an artist with a purchased license. Note: 1. A lighthearted, silly supernatural ghost-catching story, not a horror mystery. Please don’t read if that bothers you. 2. All supernatural content is fictional. Any resemblance to reality probably means I have a bit of talent. 3. One-on-one romance: a sharp-tongued, domineering receiver who’s a living King of Hell, paired with a doting, powerful emperor top. The romance develops slowly; the top is more of a background presence, while the receiver’s golden finger is huge. 4. I may not see every comment. Coming soon: After the Background Character Binds to JJ Literature City One moment, Yu Zhi was only half-listening as his friend complained that the protagonist of some apocalypse novel was a bloodthirsty, unhinged psychopath. The next, the novel’s plot became reality. The apocalypse arrived, and pollution mutated across the globe. Some people were contaminated, and mouths sprouted from the tops of their heads. Others awakened abilities. Yu Zhi: “What the hell?!” Bad news: He had never really paid attention to his friend’s rundown of the plot. Good news: He awakened an ability, a book of abilities called JJ Literature City. [Ability One: You are a background character in JJ Literature City.] [Note: You used to be nothing more than an ordinary, unremarkable background character in a novel, but from now on, you will...] Yu Zhi took a deep breath and excitedly flipped to the next page. His smile instantly froze: [...have no poop or pee!] ??? Was that supposed to be an ability? * Before long, Yu Zhi had the bad luck to run into Fu Suxi, the male lead, covered in blood and looking like a demon fresh from hell. The good news was that Yu Zhi had just obtained a second ability. The bad news was that his new ability seemed completely useless. [Ability Two: Censored.] [Effect: A word can silence one person within ten paces; travel a thousand miles without leaving a trace.] The moment Fu Suxi approached Yu Zhi, the killing intent in his heart inexplicably vanished. He held his knife to Yu Zhi’s throat and asked with interest, “What did you do to me?” Yu Zhi: “...” If I told you I censored you, would you believe me? Theme: Live in harmony with nature and build a civilized, friendly society.
