Chinese horror, underworld aesthetics, ancestral grave feng shui, and endless encounters with evil spirits. A sickly, constantly-hungry patriarch and a young eagle-hound with an extremely yin birth chart who has to dress as a woman, Fei Lian. Their age gap spans several centuries, and the younger one is raised by the older one. Zhong Yan never dreamed that even as the patriarch of the Hungry Ghost Path, he would have to deal with one evil encounter after another. In a haunted house lit by red candles, he sweeps a little-footed ghost bride off his shoulder and asks in surprise, “You can walk?” Zhong Yan gets up from his wheelchair with a grin. “Using a wheelchair is a personal preference. I never said I couldn’t walk. I got up. I sat back down. I got up again. I sat back down again...” Watching the hungry ghost repeatedly stand and sit, the female ghost spits out a mouthful of black blood in rage. “This ghost is sick.” After breaking the curse, Zhong Yan carries a baby wrapped in red cloth. His stomach gurgles. He’s hungry. The baby’s stomach gurgles too. Hungry. “What the hell is this thing? I’m not becoming a male mom!” Zhong Yan yelps, drops the baby, and jumps away. In the end, he can’t resist and feeds it a drop of blood from his fingertip. To his surprise, after just one drop of blood, the child has grown several years older by the next day. Zhong Yan: “Fine. When you grow up, remember that I’m your male ancestor. You were born from the Fei Lian curse, so I’ll call you Fei Lian.” Six months later, the handsome seventeen-year-old Fei Lian pushes Zhong Yan’s wheelchair, dressed in a uniform skirt and black thigh-high socks. “Patriarch, is this skirt you bought me a knockoff? You went to Zhi Shan and bought it there again?” Zhong Yan: “I made it with my own hands!” Theme: Surpass yourself and push against the current for the gold medal.
