"In the entire Tang family, only Tang Er didn't believe in Buddha. But later, Shuisheng took a bullet for him. On the night it happened, Tang Er went mad. First he smashed the Tang family's Buddhist shrine, then he knelt in front of the Guanyin statue and refused to get up."
A Beijing social-circle series, set in Beijing from the 1970s to the 1990s.
The story of Tang Yao, a fearless top boss, and Shuisheng, his clever, handsome bodyguard who has been loyal to him since childhood.
Synopsis:
The first time Shuisheng saw Tang Yao, when he was four, he knew that Tang Yao was his young master. If nothing unexpected happened, he would grow up just like his father, who drove for Tang Yao's father: he would become Tang Yao's personal driver and drive his young master for the rest of his life.
He looked timidly at the boy before him and said in a southern accent, "Hello, Second Young Master. I'll study hard and drive for you my whole life, and take good care of you."
Six-year-old Tang Yao looked him over, then grabbed his little hand. "Then don't go home tonight. Stay and sleep with me from now on!"
And so, even though Shuisheng was the son of a driver, the Tang family raised him as their fourth young master over the next decade or more.
After that, everyone knew that the Tang family had not only three young masters, but also a boy named Shuisheng. He was the apple of Second Young Master Tang Yao's eye, and if he was away for more than three days, Tang Yao would throw a fit.
But nobody knew that Shuisheng's feelings for his young master were slowly changing, too.
When they grew up, in an era of turbulent change, Shuisheng went from being a young driver to a young bodyguard, and eventually became Tang Yao's trusted aide. Everyone knew he was Tang Yao's business secret, the one who knew everything about him. As Beijing's business landscape shifted, Shuisheng also became one of the "Four Young Dragons," all so he could be a little closer to his Second Brother.
But one thing never changed: Shuisheng's secret love. He was willing to go into business with his young master and navigate all the schemes and betrayals by his side, but he didn't dare reveal his love, until one day...
Tang Yao: "Shuier, I dreamed about you last night."
Shuisheng: "What did you dream about, Second Young Master? Did you take me to Guangzhou for a business deal?"
Tang Yao: "I dreamed we were having our wedding at the Beijing Hotel. You said you wanted to marry me and take good care of me for the rest of your life."
Shuisheng: "Impossible. I clearly wanted to get married at the Wangfujing McDonald's..."
Tang Yao: "What?"
Shuisheng: "...Huh?!"
Oh no, looks like he's been found out.
