As the Demon King, Finding a Way to Die Is Hard

Blurb (third person narration)

I was born into this world as the Demon King. After regaining my own will, the only thing I had to do was wait on my throne for the male lead to arrive, then meet my end.

The first to arrive was a knight.

I uncrossed my legs and gave him a faint smile, looking down at him from my throne. Just as I was about to deliver my final line, the knight instead offered me the sword that symbolized his loyalty, then proposed to me.

Me: ...

The second to arrive was a mage.

I crossed my legs again and looked down at him arrogantly, the corner of my mouth curling up. Just as I was about to deliver my final line, the mage instead cast a spell to summon flower petals, then proposed to me.

Me: ...

The last to arrive was a poison warlock.

Sitting on my throne amid a shower of flowers, I looked at him expressionlessly. Just as I was about to deliver my final line, the warlock instead presented me with his elixir of immortality, then proposed to me.

Me: ...

Aren't you all supposed to kill the Demon King?!

Theme: Seeing the people the plot originally sent to kill me break free of its control moved me deeply, so I'm going to escape the plot's restraints too and begin a whole new life.
