Discover the Most Beautiful
Literature发现最美
Deng Zhaoan
Jiaodong Online's news topic "Relay Searching for Beauty and Warming China" won the first prize in the 22nd China News Award. For prefecture-level websites, it is not only the highest honor, but also a huge encouragement. The "Love Spreads in 100 Cities" campaign was planned and launched based on the incident in which Yantai's "most beautiful girl" Diao Na sacrificed her life to save others. It linked up with hundreds of city websites across the country to discover numerous "civilian heroes" from all over the country and realized the spread of love in one city to hundreds of cities, allowing the "most beautiful flower" to bloom all over the country. The book has the same name as the award-winning news topic. It is divided into five chapters: discovering the most beautiful, praising the most beautiful, inheriting the most beautiful, moving the most beautiful, and practicing the most beautiful. It reorganizes the experience and practices accumulated in the process of discovering and amplifying Diao Na, a typical figure. ?

Alley Premier
Literature小巷总理
Xia Zhen Wang Yi
"Alley Prime Minister", co-authored by Xia Zhen and Wang Yi, tells the story of Yu Fuling, secretary of the Ningbo Boating Community, who grew from an ordinary laid-off female worker to an outstanding moral model and representative of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, praised by Xi Jinping and eager to learn from the whole country. She is affectionately called "the caring community leader and the selfless alley premier" by residents. Through vivid examples, the work vividly tells how Yu Fuling used her "sincerity, mother-in-law's mouth, donkey's feet, and rubber belly" to solve problems for laid-off female workers, single mothers, empty-nest elderly, autistic patients and other people. It restores the bumpy and unyielding mental journey of this seemingly ordinary middle-aged woman and shows her true and noble soul.

渴望决战:林彪对决白崇禧
Zhang Songshan
This book describes that after the Huaihai Campaign, the Kuomintang also had three major military groups, Bai Chongxi, Hu Zongnan, and Tang Enbo, stationed in Central South, Southwest, and East China respectively. Among them, Bai Chongxi, the most famous general of the Kuomintang and the second-largest figure in the Guangxi clique, has 22 armies with 350,000 troops. In April 1949, despite several efforts by the Chinese Communist Party, Bai Chongxi still refused to sign the peace agreement. Chairman Mao Zedong ordered the Fourth Field Army of the People's Liberation Army to go south to "eliminate the Guangxi clique." Lin Biao led the main force of the fourth field and Chen Geng's regiment of the second field, with more than 900,000 troops, to attack the central and southern regions, looking for an opportunity to fight Bai Chongxi's main force in Hubei and Hunan. This secretary states that Lin Biao led the main forces of the four fields with a majestic appearance and a tiger-like spirit to liberate Anyang and Xinxiang, launched the Yisha and Hunan-Kiangxi campaigns, liberated Nanchang and Wuhan, promoted the peaceful uprising in Changsha, fought bloody Qingshuping, won the Hengbao battle, flew troops to Guangzhou, advanced into Guangxi, and fought against the Guangdong-Guangxi border, setting off a magnificent war picture on the land of China.

The Poetry of an Isolated Island
Literature孤岛的诗歌
(o)joan London
Even if you are in darkness and death follows you like a shadow, fearlessness, beauty and kindness will bring hope, like flowers on the cliff, like poetry on an isolated island, using faint light to dispel the boundless chill. In 1954, 13-year-old Frank Gold came to Australia with his parents, away from war-torn Hungary. However, when a new life was about to come, Frank contracted polio, and even walking became a luxury. He was sent to a children's polio sanatorium called the Golden Age for treatment. It was an isolated island that seemed to be separated from the real world. Children were thrown here like injured animals, each licking their wounds, anxiously and eagerly looking forward to returning to their old life. The same is true for Frank. He is sharp and lonely, likes to think and hates rules. The golden age traps his body and his heart like a cage. Until one day, he met Elsa, and everything changed, love, desire...

Dungeon
Literature地下城
(us) Catherine Boo
Won 9 awards including the National Book Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Award, and the MacArthur Genius Grant! The Pulitzer Prize winner's in-depth investigation of the people at the bottom of Mumbai's underground city took three years to complete this shocking work! A book about the redemption of humanity that made Bill Gates shed tears and was recommended by the winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics! Here, people are strictly classified like garbage, justice is traded with each other like garbage, and life is more penniless than garbage. Pulitzer Prize winner Katherine Boo spent three years tracking the lower class people in Mumbai. Through audio, video, and interviews, she recorded the living conditions of these residents from 2007 to 2011. There, the vast majority of people make a living by picking up garbage and live in houses made of iron sheets, polycarbonate boards and tarps, and some people simply sleep in the open air. People there are plagued by poverty and corruption, violence and death are eternal themes, and hope and despair emerge alternately. Is it enough for people to just be alive? This blockbuster work, almost completed with tears, points directly to areas that traditional documentary literature is unwilling to touch, and outlines the gripping struggle process of disadvantaged groups, with unique depth.

浴火重生=The Rejuvenation of Northeast China
Xu Jian
Before the 1990s, China's Northeastern region was the cradle of industry in New China, making historic and significant contributions to building an independent and complete industrial system and national economic system, and to the country's reform, opening up, and modernization. However, with the deepening of reform and opening up, the economic development speed of Northeast China has gradually lagged behind that of the eastern coastal areas. In view of this, the country has proposed a strategy to revitalize old industrial bases such as Northeast China. The author of this book spent a year conducting interviews, visiting large state-owned enterprises in cities, seaports, coal cities, and steel cities. Taking the fate of several ordinary workers, several factories, a city and the ups and downs of the entire era as the vertical line, it travels through sixty years of historical time and space. It reproduces how the old Northeast Industrial Base created many industrial myths, miracles and brilliance, how it experienced life disasters in the silent and gloomy years, and how it finally regained the confidence and pride to make a comeback.

Pelliot's Beijing Diary
Literature伯希和北京日记
Xiao Jing
"Pelliot's Beijing Diary" is Pelliot's personal record of the Boxer Rebellion. From 1899 to 1901, Pelliot traveled throughout Vietnam and China. When the Boxer Rebellion broke out, he happened to be in Beijing and witnessed the entire process of the embassy area being besieged by the Boxers. As the situation developed, he took some time to record what he saw and heard on small pieces of paper. The diary written under this special environment is scattered and fragmented, but it has a sense of being on the spot. The editors of the Collège de France identified and sorted out the diary manuscripts in detail, presented them as they were, and supplemented them with Pelliot's diary when he lived in the Far East for the second time, so as to present as completely as possible the adventurous Eastern academic journey of this academic master in his youth.

As an "important figure" with special experience and identity, Jiang Tingfu's memoirs have important historical reference value. This book is a Chinese translation of the autobiography that the author dictated at Columbia University after his retirement. It was published by Taiwan Biographical Literature Publishing House in 1979 and has attracted widespread attention from academic circles at home and abroad. Jiang Tingfu had a complicated life and experienced the vicissitudes of the times. He observes and thinks with a scholar's vision and mind, and there are things that others don't know. In addition, he has been in a high position for a long time, and the large number of little-known historical events disclosed in his memoirs are precious materials for studying modern history. This is the main value of the book and our focus in publishing it.

The original films of "The Conjuring" and "Annabelle", directed by the Chinese director James Wan of "Saw" and "The Fast and the Furious" and selling $1 billion globally, have finally been introduced to China! Recognized as the authoritative work of psychic exorcism, it refreshes the real and stimulating sensory experience. This is a thrilling biography written by the writer Gerald Brittle and the protagonists, the psychics Warren and his wife, recording the Warrens' decades of work. The author said that all the strange events in the movie actually happened in reality, and all come from the suspenseful biography "The Calling: The Shocking Career Record of the Warrens." This may be a masterpiece that strongly subverts your previous understanding of hauntings, ghosts, and exorcisms.

Yang Wuneng
Professor Yang Wuneng, a famous translator in my country and winner of the Nobel Prize in Chinese Translation - the "Goethe Gold Medal", has been to Germany for further study, research, and lectures since 1982. He has personally experienced the development of Germany, is familiar with German literature, history, and natural scenery, and has his own unique understanding of it. Professor Yang Wuneng used a humanistic touch to describe Germany's mysterious castles, dense forests, flowing rivers, towering churches and oil painting-like buildings, as well as German festivals, city construction, attention to environmental protection, emphasis on education and history, and portraits of German people's lives. He witnessed and personally experienced the contrast and changes between the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of the two Germanys. It describes the estrangement caused by the political structure of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Democratic Republic of Germany, the various conditions before the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the people's mentality after the reunification of the two Germanys. The book reads like a living German history.

Chen Brai was born in 1890 and died in 1948. The era he lived in was an era of great changes that had not happened in China for thousands of years. From a scholar to a pioneer in the newspaper industry, his writing style flourished and made a splash. Later, he followed Chiang Kai-shek for more than 20 years and was regarded as a "leader of literary courage" and "president's think tank". But he finally ended his life by committing suicide, leaving us with various mysteries. To find a real Chen Brai, his "Memoirs" and "Diary" are one of the suitable ways. The content of this book is compiled from Chen Bulei's "memoirs", "diaries" and "suicide notes" published in Taiwan's "Biography Literature" magazine, as well as the memories and evaluations of Chen Bulei by Chiang Kai-shek, Tao Xisheng, Hu Shi and others. It is hoped that readers can have a comprehensive understanding of this legendary figure in the history of the Republic of China.

(u. S.) Lawrence Limmer
The business elite colludes with the power elite to trample on the lives of ordinary people. Does justice still exist? Two human rights lawyers, one from the bottom of society and the other from a family of lawyers, are brought together by their belief in upholding judicial fairness. However, their opponent is Blankenship, the head of the coal empire. In this lawsuit, which lasted for fourteen years and experienced many twists and turns, how did the business empire collude with judges and public power to squeeze the living space of small businesses, ignore people's rights and even lives, and trample on judicial fairness? Lawrence Lemmer, a well-known reporter for the New York Times, in his court trial documentary "The Price of Justice," comprehensively presents the trial scenes of the U. S. County courts, state courts of appeals, and federal Supreme Court, traces the history of Blankenship's coal empire, and tells the story of large American companies using huge sums of money to manipulate the election of local court judges, interfering with judicial fairness, and the Supreme Court's efforts to turn the tide.

Peter Heisler (Chinese name He Wei) is the prelude to his documentary trilogy about China! "River City" has been best-selling in the United States for more than ten years and is the first choice book for Americans to understand China. The book won the Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Award and was recommended by many foreign media such as The New York Times, The Economist, and The New Yorker. It ranked first in the Asian book list of Time Magazine. Peter Heisler was a Beijing correspondent for The New Yorker and a contributor to National Geographic and other magazines. With the publication of "River City", "Searching for China" and "Strange Stones", he became the best-selling author in the West writing about China. At the end of August 1996, on a warm and clear night, I set off from Chongqing and took a slow boat down the river to Fuling. Fuling has no railways and has always been a poor area in Sichuan Province. The roads are very bad. You have to take a boat to go everywhere, but most likely you won't go anywhere. For the next two years, this city became my home. Here, I am sometimes a bystander, and sometimes I am immersed in local life. This combination of close and distant observation constitutes part of my two-year stay in Sichuan. This is not a book about China; it only deals with a small part of China during a specific period of time. From a geographical and historical point of view, Fuling is located in the middle reaches of the river, so it is sometimes difficult for people to see clearly where it comes from and where it is going. Between 1996 and 1998, I learned to love Fuling. It feels so good to be back on the Yangtze River again, even if its old rapids only remain in my memory.

In those years, we chased Shaolin together! From boy to man, youth! Hot blooded! Hilarious! Kung Fu version of "Life of Pi"! "Translation Documentary: Shaolin Busy" tells the story of Matthew who thought he would find an isolated monastery filled with ascetics with supernatural abilities, just like the ones he had seen in countless corny movies. Unexpectedly, what he found was a "Kung Fu World" transformed by the government into a "Kung Fu World" full of tourists. He finally found the Shaolin Martial Arts Center, where the monks still strictly trained some ancient and intense martial arts methods. After the first day of training, Matthew couldn't even stand still. After gradually understanding Chinese Kung Fu and the meaning of "enduring hardship", Matthew began to represent the Shaolin Temple in martial arts competitions and international competitions. Later, the monks finally accepted the American, making Matthew the closest Westerner they had ever come to. Matthew saw from the monks the contradictions in the lives of modern Shaolin monks. They are devout Buddhists who must perform for tourists every day and sell some goods to support their skills.

In the form of reportage, this book uses real and vivid characters and stories to describe China's great creation, construction, innovation capabilities and Chinese wisdom. On June 27, 2012, the "Jiaolong" successfully dived to 7,062 meters, setting a world record for similar operational manned submersibles. This book tells the story of how the "Jiaolong", a deep-sea weapon, was born. The rational academic record is expressed entirely in literary terms. It vividly and truly describes the great scientific miracles of contemporary China. It is a great book written jointly by the sons and daughters of the Chinese Ocean.

This book is one of the "Chinese Creation Story Series". In the form of reportage, with pictures and texts, it tells the arduous journey of my country's supercomputer from scratch, from being backward to leading the world. Supercomputers are called "accelerators of economic transformation and scientific research". They can enhance the country's overall scientific and technological innovation capabilities. Our country's supercomputer started with the "Yinhe" and after decades of efforts to the birth of "Tianhe-1" and "Tianhe-2", it is mainly used to undertake major scientific research, cutting-edge national defense technology and large-scale computing projects and data processing tasks in the national economy. By telling the legendary stories of the "Galaxy" and "Tianhe" series of supercomputers, the book uses vivid and concrete details to demonstrate the patriotic dedication and strong professionalism of generations of scientists and researchers.

"Book Magazine" ranked first among the "Top 20 Documentary Works on Sea Disasters" - "Sixteen People Survived on an Uninhabited Island". It tells the story of the Dragon Sleeper, which sailed from Tokyo in December 1898 and was originally scheduled to go to the Ogasawara Islands for a fishery inspection. However, it was hit hard by a strong westerly wind on the way. It lost all three anchors and the mast was broken, so it had to go to Hawaii for help. Unexpectedly, on the way back after the repairs were completed, it encountered unprecedented huge waves again, ran aground on the rocks late at night, and was eventually smashed to pieces by the waves. A group of sixteen people on the ship, led by the captain, landed on an uninhabited island in the center of the Pacific Ocean. What faced the sixteen crew members was hunger, fear, disease, and endless years of waiting. As long as one person is slightly weak and doubtful, the entire army of sixteen people may be wiped out. So they set four absolute rules: 1. Live with what you get on the island; 2. Don't discuss things you can't do; 3. Live in a regular manner; 4. Keep a happy mood.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, in order to study Germany under Hitler's rule, young Timothy Garden Ash stayed in East and West Berlin for several years to collect information. Unexpectedly, his whereabouts in East Germany were considered espionage activities, and he was tracked by the secret police and informants, leaving behind a 325-page secret file. After the reunification of the two Germanys, East Germany's secret police files were opened. The author revisited East Germany. Based on the files established for him by the East German Ministry of Security and his own diary, he searched for those who monitored him one by one and reconstructed a memory of his youth. He was surprised to find that people with different standpoints often have completely different or even contradictory memories of the same experience. Therefore, going through the fog of various memories and exploring the truth of the history of which he is a part became the driving force for writing this book, which ultimately led to such a touching book.

In the book "My Unfinished Misery (A Complete Documentary of the European Refugee Crisis)" written by Patrick Kingsley, the stories of Hashim the refugee and Haji the smuggler are just a fragment of the largest migration movement in human history. In addition, the faces of the coast guards who rescue refugees on the other side, the international volunteers who provide food and shelter to refugees, and the policymakers who deliberately hope that refugees will only pass through their own countries are also revealed. In this great migration of souls about despair, loneliness and even death that are constantly coming from the depths of the Mediterranean, from the Sahara Desert, and from the borders of the Balkan Peninsula, what we feel are only the inner calls of these homeless refugees. People say, "My heart is in my hometown." But for these refugees, their bodies and souls will always be on the road, which is their endless suffering.
