About This Novel
The section of the Yangtze River that passes through the "Jiuqu Ileum" in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province is called Jingjiang River. Near the Wanshou Pagoda on the Jingjiang Embankment, there are three notable monuments: the giant stone tablet of "An Lan in the Prosperous Age"; the Jingjiang Flood Diversion Project Monument; and the 1998 Flood Fighting Martyrs Monument. Although these three monument stones were built more than 50 years apart, they jointly record the heroic feats of Jingjiang soldiers and civilians fighting bloody battles against flooding. On the occasion of solemn commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the author is full of passion and uses vivid writing to describe that period of magnificent history. I believe that what is left to readers is not only those thrilling historical pictures, but also deep emotions and thoughts...
