About This Novel

The sun coats the cold mountains and seas with a layer of golden light. A large river dances an ancient and simple dance in a long and narrow valley, singing a song that dates back 3 million years of geological time. This is the mother river of Beijing - Yongding River. It originates from the Sanggan River in Ningwu County, Shanxi and the Yanghe River in Xinghe County, Inner Mongolia, and merges into the Yongding River in Huailai County, Hebei. The Yongding River flows eastward to Guanting, takes in the Guishui River from Yanqing, and then enters the Guanting Mountain Gorge. It turns at Xiangyangkou along the riverside and enters Pearl Lake. Surrounded by green mountains on both sides of the river, it surges forward and becomes a Baili Gallery. It rushes out of the mountain pass from Sanjiadian, flows through the gentle Mencheng Town and Yongding Plain, and forms the artistic conception of the dawn moon in Lugou. Thousands of years of silt have accumulated into vast stretches of land along the river, creating the only vastness of this region.
