Gotham's Wage-Earning Emperor

After ten years of hard study, just as he was about to graduate, Uesugi Ri watched his advisor get sent to Arkham. Having shed Kong Yiji’s long robe and found himself without even a pair of pants, Uesugi Ri had no choice but to look for another way forward in Gotham. “How about finding a job using your degree?” said a handsome man in a police uniform, raising his glass. “I majored in religious studies.” The bartender, his hair tied in a high ponytail, set a sprig of mint on the glass and handed it to his customer. “Would you like to hear about the modern development of Voodoo, or the new era of change in Satanism?” The young cop fell silent and lowered his head to drink his frosty mojito. “Seriously, man, have you considered another line of work?” roared a muscular man in a Red Hood, firing rubber bullets at the enemy with both guns raised. “I worked as a hitman in Gotham for three months. The Dark Knight beat me up twenty times, so I reflected on my mistakes.” The assassin dodged a bullet with a tilt of his head, raised his sniper rifle, and blew the enemy leader’s head off with one shot. “Now I only work as a hitman outside Gotham. That way, I can avoid him.” The man in the Red Hood turned his head uncertainly and sent him a question mark. “What are you after?” The Dark Knight and a mysterious investigator meet in the night. The investigator casually loosens his tie, which matches his suit. “I want Arkham to blow up right now, so my advisor can get out of there.” Before he’d finished speaking, Arkham took off into the sky. The criminals cheered and scattered, while the young man vanished into the night. After a long day’s work, the Dark Knight finally lay down on his soft bed. Remembering the young man’s answer, he abruptly opened his eyes. “That doesn’t add up.” Theme: Reject superstition and believe in science
