[Genshin Impact] The Lantern-Bearer's Work Rules

Whenever Corsica is asked how to be a good Lampkeeper, he gives the same formulaic answer: First, you have to be brave. Second, you have to be smart. And finally, you have to know how to play dumb. Bravery is necessary because a Lampkeeper's everyday job is fighting the Wild Hunt. Being smart is necessary because in Nod-Krai, this land without a ruler, only clever people can survive a little longer. As for playing dumb... If acquaintances from hundreds of years ago start appearing in front of you one by one, and technically speaking, all of you are supposed to be dead, you have to learn to play dumb. Otherwise, things will get awkward. Especially when one of those acquaintances is a former superior. Corsica still remembers the day the "new recruit," Flins, joined the team. Even though they hadn't seen each other in hundreds of years, Corsica could still vividly recall the old days of staying up all night writing work reports for him. Now the tables had turned, and Corsica was Flins's superior. Looking at Flins, who was pretending not to know him either, Corsica made a decision: Corsica, Lampkeeper Logistics Supervisor: Starting today, every Lampkeeper has to write work reports! Flins, New Lampkeeper: Do I have to write one too? Corsica, whose rank is one notch higher: Yes! - The first time he meets a Fatui Harbinger The Marionette: You? You're still alive! Corsica: ... The Knave: You two know each other? The Marionette: He recommended I try my luck applying to the Fatui. Corsica: Actually, I recommended the Doctor too. The Marionette: ? The Knave: ... Corsica: Just kidding. Corsica: Can I still get the Fatui's referral bonus if I go collect it now? - Comments are open, with no restrictions. Updates around midnight every night. 40% anti-piracy protection. - A peek at my upcoming fic: Genshin Impact: Are We Fatui Doomed? Years after leaving the Fatui, Silco still thinks of the day Tartaglia, the youngest Harbinger, released the ancient god of whirlpools in Liyue whenever reporters interview him. Just a few months earlier, Silco had been congratulating himself on being stationed in Liyue, where he didn't have to clean up the mess after the eighth Harbinger punched a god. "Back then, I thought I was going to lose my job," Silco tells the reporter earnestly. "But I recall you didn't lose your job. You were even promoted to special envoy and transferred to Inazuma." "Exactly. But going to Inazuma was worse than losing my job!" Silco will never forget the time after he was transferred to Inazuma. Worse still, just when he thought his work in Inazuma was already hard enough, fate told him that had been the easy part. As long as you can endure hardship, there's always more hardship to come. In Sumeru, Silco watched helplessly as the sixth Harbinger faced off against the blonde Traveler and the Dendro Archon. In Fontaine, Silco watched helplessly as the youngest Harbinger was arrested, the prophecy came true, and the floodwaters rose. He couldn't swim. In Natlan, Silco watched helplessly as the first Harbinger sat down and couldn't get back up. In Nod-Krai, Silco watched helplessly as the Harbingers turned on one another, until the third, fourth, and seventh Harbingers beat up a segment of the second Harbinger. In Snezhnaya... Forget it. Silco closed his eyes. There was only one thought in his mind: Are we Fatui doomed? - Reporter: By the way, why don't you just resign? Silco: If I resigned, where would I get material to write about the Harbingers' daily lives and sell for money? Reporter: ... Reporter: Do the Harbingers know? Silco: They do. Silco: They told me not to worry too much about sticking to the facts when I write about them. Reporter: ... Silco: So I gave each of them a deeply moving romantic storyline. Silco: Don't mention it. My royalties are compensation for the emotional distress they caused me. Theme: Pursuing the dawn.
