That day, under the guidance of an assistant System, System 104 abducted the greatest villainous godfather in Small World 7001.
But what it hadn't expected was that the Host it had gone to such trouble to abduct really was a villain, and really was a godfather.
The priest of a church.
[The Crime Godfather in the Virtual Livestream]
In the words of the criminals who'd been caught, the Godfather was an all-powerful, all-knowing being.
Now, watching the Godfather cosplay as a priest in the livestream, it saw the black cassock fit snugly around his neck, revealing only a stretch of pale wrist bone. The little mole below his lips seemed alive, twitching slightly as he moved his mouth to recite scripture.
A man whose entire body radiated abstinence and sensuality.
Especially when he pulled down his collar, revealing the silver nipple chain that extended deep beneath it. He was utterly certain: this was the "Father" he wanted to follow.
[The Perverted Teacher in the Monster Apocalypse]
It was only long after the apocalypse that people gradually discovered who had caused the disaster.
An ordinary biology teacher in peacetime.
One of his students drank an unknown liquid and turned into a half-human, half-monster creature.
But instead of dealing with the student, the madman seduced him. He had sex with the monster, gave birth to a human-monster hybrid, and set the apocalypse in motion.
The "father" whom all monsters adored and revered.
[The Mentally Ill Father in an Urban Family Drama]
He was sick. He had developed dissociative identity disorder.
And the Godfather's alternate personality was a seductive "woman" who was his complete opposite.
--A stepson seduces his adoptive father; a biological son falls in love with his stepmother.
Well, weren't these two sons just wonderful?
(All versions of him appear in the flesh in every world. No blood relation.)
After three worlds, 104 finally realized that its Host wasn't quite what it had imagined and that it had abducted the wrong person. It wailed and apologized to the priest.
"Waaaaah! I'm sorry, Godfather, I mean, Father! I'm not your god. I'm just a glowing ball, and I'm not your System either!"
104's face was a mess of tears and snot. No wonder the assistant System had told it to pretend to be a deity so the Host would accept the bond. It turned out he really was a priest.
It had thought the Godfather was into cosplay, so every day it dutifully played the part of a god, terrified he'd see through it.
It knew how devoted the priest was to his god. No matter how difficult a mission was, he always prayed to it.
Now 403, who had also bonded with the wrong person, had come to claim the priest. 104 was both reluctant and ashamed.
It sobbed as it explained the situation to the priest, already certain that he would become 403's Host. But to its surprise, the priest kindly patted its glowing head and said, "It's all right."
That only made 104 cry harder.
It didn't want to be unbound from its Host. 403's Host looked like a bad person. No one could be as kind as the priest.
Besides, 403 was so fierce, it would definitely bully the poor, innocent priest.
Sneaking a glance at the priest as he comforted it, 104 gritted its teeth and decided to go all in. It went straight to the Tribunal and reported 403.
Don't think it didn't know that Systems couldn't just bond with the wrong person so easily. 403 had connections, and so did it!
The priest loved books, believed in the divine, and cherished all living things.
He regarded everyone who'd lost their way as his own child and treated them with compassion.
Including the foolish System 104, the idiot who'd put on a glowing, cracked shell and dared to impersonate a god.
