He Wants to Be This Kind Samaritan's Dog

[Top is Lin. He can accept being treated any way at all, a real dog through and through.]

[I've decided: this will be a couple's story about saving each other. I'll revise the blurb and set Lin's background as someone who transmigrates from the apocalypse to the modern world.]

Lin was kicked out.

With no money to his name, he wandered the streets, cold and hungry.

Luckily, he met a kind man: Mr. Jiang.

He bought Lin clothes and food, and even took him home.

Mr. Jiang's home was beautiful, a big house with a warm little nest that was just the right size for Jiang to sleep in.

Lin didn't want to leave. He wanted to stay in Mr. Jiang's big house forever.

Then he saw the dog in the neighboring house, tied up inside and petted by its owner. At last, he understood: if he became Mr. Jiang's dog, he wouldn't be kicked out!

Jiang had been feeling a little troubled lately.

On an impulse, he'd taken in a young man named Lin.

There was something strange about him

When Jiang sat on the sofa, Lin would come over and lie across his legs, gazing up at him with damp eyes like a dog.

When Jiang went back to the study to work, Lin would crouch outside the door and look at him pitifully. Unable to resist, Jiang would call him in, but Lin would tiptoe over to his legs and curl up on the rug at his feet.

Sometimes Jiang became so absorbed in work that he stepped on Lin. Lin would only roll over, his chest rising and falling slightly. By the time Jiang realized what had happened, footprints had been left on the young man's body.

The thing Jiang found hardest to tolerate was that at every meal, Lin put his bowl on the floor and bent down to eat from it with his mouth.

Jiang corrected him again and again, but Lin never seemed to understand. He would just stare at Jiang with those round, puppy-like eyes.

He was so strange. But winters in City C were so cold that if Jiang abandoned him, he'd die.

Reluctantly, Jiang took in the strange young man.

He thought, I'll throw him out when spring comes.
