Please leave a five-star review if you enjoyed it~ My next story will be "[Western Crossover] Gotham Diver (Food)", a lighthearted, heartwarming food story. The blurb is at the very bottom, so please take a moment to bookmark it, dear readers! One day, the second-generation Batman heard a call from somewhere beyond: You need a Robin. Batman: ? What’s a Robin, and why would I need one? The mysterious voice ignored him. You need one! Batman can’t be without a Robin! And so he got bound to the Robin-Recruiting System and began his bizarre career of picking up Robins Every morning at eight, a Robin would appear in the manor’s main hall. Apparently, they came from different parallel universes and shared deep connections with his counterparts. On the first day, Batman picked up an adorable blonde girl. She was lively and cheerful, though she loved to sass him. But she praised him as the most handsome Batman of his generation, so Bruce took it well. On the second day, he picked up a uniformed, superpowered starfish who even sweetly called him “Daddy.” Bruce took it well. On the third day, he got a giant Robin who liked chasing him around with a firearm, and took it well. On the fourth day, a Robin who had inherited the League of Assassins, and he took it well. A Robin dog, fine. A Talon Robin, fine. The Robin King, fine… Wait, how could any of this be fine? Something weird has gotten mixed in! Only the old butler looked on with satisfaction. “It’s been a long time since the young master screamed with such joy.” :) See the author’s note in Chapter One for content warnings. Next story: "Gotham Diver (Food)" Agnes had only recently retired as an accomplished competitive diver, her body battered by injuries and illness, when a will summoned her back to Gotham. Her adoptive mother had passed away, leaving her one final inheritance: a fast-food restaurant that was thriving less and less, on the verge of closing, and still had a mortgage to pay. Oh, and on the very day Agnes returned, someone trashed the place, so now it was also drafty from every direction. But this restaurant was the last thing her adoptive mother had left her, and Agnes had no intention of letting anyone else take it. Not only would she pay off the mortgage, she would make this restaurant bigger and better! As the saying goes, those who live by the mountains eat from the mountains, and those who live by the sea eat from the sea. Agnes decided to put her professional skills to use and catch seafood in Gotham Bay, making freshly caught ingredients the restaurant’s selling point. On her first day diving, she found a corpse underwater. On her second day, she found a poison gas bomb underwater. On her third day, she found a huge cache of firearms dumped underwater. On her fourth day, she found a mermaid underwater, a Batman fish?!!! What, are you a Gotham specialty too? Nervously, Agnes dragged the notorious Batman fish ashore and wondered if she should call the police. But when she turned around, the enormous black creature had vanished. The only sign that he had been there was a bat-shaped coin left on the windowsill. Well, okay then. The little restaurant kept running, and Agnes went on with her diligent, down-to-earth life as a shopkeeper. But something seemed different. After that, handsome men started showing up at the restaurant more often during the day, and at night she would sometimes find herself serving a whole crowd of starving vigilantes. Handsome men and vigilantes: were they another one of Gotham’s local specialties? It wasn’t until she saw Batman leading the vigilantes into battle that Agnes finally understood: This was Batman repaying her kindness! Who says running a shop in Gotham is a bad idea? Gotham is wonderful! (Not really.) Theme: A happy family makes everything flourish
