If I Were a Cockroach, Would You Still Love Me? [DC]

[Batkid Fiction]

Aaliyah is Bruce Wayne's biological daughter, who was lost and found again at the age of twelve.

The Waynes are a big family, and Aaliyah, who has never known family love, falls deeply for them.

She loves her dad and all her family.

And they love her, too.

But... Aaliyah is insecure and often wonders if she deserves their love.

Bruce sits down with her. "Aaliyah, I will never, ever abandon you."

Aaliyah's eyes brim with tears. "Really, Dad?"

His daughter spent her childhood wandering the streets, and Bruce's heart overflows with love for her. He speaks gently. "Really. This is your home."

Aaliyah struggles to ask. "You really won't abandon me?"

Bruce says, "How could I abandon you? What are you worried about? You can tell me, Aaliyah."

Bruce's gentle voice soothes Aaliyah's heart.

At last, she finds the courage to return to her true form and asks hesitantly, "Th-then... if I turned into a cockroach, would you still love me, Dad?"

Bruce stares blankly at the tiny cockroach on the floor.

The cockroach looks up at him with tear-filled eyes. "Do you love me, Dad?"

Bruce says, "...I do... I do."

He stammers.

The little cockroach bursts into tears. "You hesitated. I knew you thought I was disgusting, too."

Bruce just stares blankly.

Aaliyah was abandoned as a child.

A little girl couldn't survive alone on the streets of Gotham, so to stay alive, Aaliyah transformed into the hardiest species of all: a cockroach.

She made it to the age of twelve, when the day finally came for her billionaire dad to take her in.

[Little Scene]

One day, the little cockroach crawls onto Batman's shoulder and doesn't get swatted.

Oh my god, Aaliyah is the happiest cockroach in the world!

Aaliyah's eyes fill with tears. "Dad, I love you!"

Batman wears a solemn expression.
