[Western Crossover] Finding Superhero Replacements in Gotham

[Tips: This story has a high concentration of Type-Moon lore, lots of exposition, and very little plain language (especially the Root’s cryptic talk). Casual readers may find parts difficult to follow. If it’s not for you, please stop reading in time! Seriously, stop reading! The author isn’t very skilled and the story may not be easy to understand, so don’t waste your money!] You’re incredibly optimistic when you become a magical girl. You’ve got your life back, you can protect yourself in this high-risk American comics universe, and you’re a partner rather than expendable fodder. That’s three wins: a real bargain! Your job objectively doesn’t lend itself to frequent socializing, but as a former shut-in anime fan, you don’t mind. Masked superheroes become your new obsession. With a drawing tablet in one hand and editing software in the other, you spend yesterday hammering away at your keyboard to churn out fanworks and today making clay crafts. Sometimes you get into epic three-hundred-round battles with a few deranged fellow fans. Before you know it, you’ve become one of the top ten creators in the superhero fanwork scene. Countless fans show up on your page every day, begging for more. The joy of being a fan creator is something normies could never understand.jpg There are no witches or monsters in this world, only invisible nightmares that prey on human souls. Luckily, the barrier protecting the real world is fairly stable. All you have to do is visit designated locations to run dungeons and fight monsters, rescuing the people who’ve been turned into various objects. Normally, victims wake up after returning to the real world. But some unlucky ones have been so deeply corrupted by the curse that they can’t change back right away, so you have to take them in at home for the time being. Once they wake up, all they’ll remember is a vague “bad dream,” so what’s wrong with giving these fluffy little animals a cuddle after a hard day’s work? (Shouting loudly!) That said, looking at the big black cat and white dog sprawled across your lap, the leopard cat and raccoon purring beside you, the little bird perched on the sofa arm, and the rest of the furry menagerie going wild in the background, you can’t help typing out a string of question marks. What kind of feng shui does Gotham have? Why are there so many unlucky kids who can’t change back?? ...Wait, aren’t these perfect stand-ins for your favorite characters, gifts from heaven? At this point, you might as well cook up a few superhero animal-themed fanworks! Aaaaaah, stop sitting on my keyboard and tablet!!! Warning 1. The story combines second- and third-person narration. It’s mainly DC, with elements of Madoka Magica and Type-Moon, plus an altered world and lots of jokes. The animals are just a hook and don’t take up much of the story. Dungeons 2 and 4 involve Type-Moon, while Dungeon 3 involves Madoka Magica. Feel free to skip them if they’re not your thing. 2. The protagonist is chaotic good and on the villain side, but she’s a true fan creator, a Batman fan, and way ahead of her time in terms of mental state. There are some ships mentioned (BatBruz and other pairings, but they’re just fanworks, not real relationships). The author can’t draw, so this is a dream come true for making fanworks. Come enjoy my substitute-character playlist with me OvO 3. When in doubt, the author trusts probability and lets the dice decide some of the worldbuilding and plot. There’s not much of a romance, and the pairing will happen naturally. If one is decided, it’ll be mentioned in the blurb. [Update after Chapter 99: The pairing has been decided: Batman. Since the story involves multiple timelines, it will touch on previous timelines and other people’s routes. If you’re not okay with that, you can check the content notes to skip the bonus chapters or avoid the story. I write superhero comics, so please cut me some slack TAT] 4. Inline comments are open.
