Three Meals in the Countryside

*The novel will be revised and typos corrected later. Please support the official release and do not read pirated copies. *My next ancient-style danmei farming novel, Meals for Every Day, is available for pre-release collection. Please add it to your favorites! No transmigration, no golden finger. Two locals simply eat and save money, living a quiet, peaceful life in the mountains. Ye Xi, a young man from Shanxiu Village, gets scalded on the face by boiling water. The wealthy family in the neighboring village, whose son was betrothed to him as a child, breaks off the engagement in the middle of the night. Everyone in the village laughs at Ye Xi. Even the other young men, who used to be uglier than him, tease him and say behind his back that no one will ever marry him. Some time later, a stranger arrives in Shanxiu Village. He is tall and burly, with dark skin, and carries nothing but a tattered bundle. He buys a dilapidated thatched hut at the foot of the mountain and settles there. The villagers are all afraid to go near him, worried that he makes his living in some shady business. Ye Xi has seen him at the foot of the mountain and by the river. He knows the man is good at farming, hunting, and fishing, and doesn't spend his time whoring, gambling, or getting into trouble. Ye Xi thinks he is a fine man, someone worth relying on. One day, with half his scalded face exposed, Ye Xi pushes open the man's door. Standing in the doorway with a blush, he asks, "Would you be willing to marry me?" The man scrapes the last of the rice from his bowl, lifts his eyes to look at Ye Xi, and gazes at him for a long while. "I'll marry you." After they marry, there are hot dishes and warm porridge on the stove. Torn clothes are mended until they look as good as new. The yard is full of chickens and ducks, with snow-white rabbits in their cages, and the vegetables and fruit in the garden grow lush and thick. Lin Jiangshan looks at his newlywed husband and sighs inwardly, "Now this is what a real life is like." The two of them farm, eat, and share three meals a day. Their mountain-village life is filled with affection, steady and unhurried. (His burns will heal, and he'll be the same handsome little husband as before!) P.S. This is an idyllic rural story. Prices and the setting are all made up. The characters use plenty of regional speech particles. Lots of hearty eating, with most of the story spent eating! The completed farming novel in this series: I Found a Handsome Little Husband The completed modern farming novel: Him and His Stomach It's the story of a young man who is misdiagnosed with cancer. He can't cook, is picky about food, and has a delicate stomach. He retreats to a poor, remote village and meets the rugged man next door, who farms, raises pigs and cattle (or rather, runs a farm) and cooks incredibly well. The two fall for each other. Liu Zhinan never thought he would get the cancer everyone talks about. Sure, he doesn't really like eating, keeps irregular mealtimes, stays up late, often drinks at social gatherings, and doesn't exercise, but how could he get an incurable disease at such a young age? Wanting to spend his final days taking things easy and waiting to die, Liu Zhinan quits his job and packs his bags. He randomly asks a travel agency to find him a livable town in the middle of nowhere, because land for graves is cheap there and the town is surrounded by mountains and water. On the second day after moving in, Liu Zhinan is sunbathing on a lounge chair in the yard when a black mastiff suddenly charges in. Terrified, he scrambles up into the branches of a tree. A man in a black tank top, with muscles all over, leans his head over the fence from next door, a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He points at the dog. "Did you come over for a meal? It thinks you're cooking shit at home." Theme: Live well, and make an effort to eat more.
