Ramesis transmigrated to Egypt's Nineteenth Dynasty.
After thinking it over, she decided that she must have been given a bad name, one that happened to match the famous historical figure Ramesses II.
System: That's right, so we chose you to conquer your past life, Ramesses II. After all, you understand yourself best.
Ramesis: Whose past life did you say? Who am I supposed to conquer?
*
The course of history had shifted. Ramesses II didn't smoothly ascend the throne as he had in history, but was banished to a temple, unloved by his parents and without any real power.
Ramesis: Wait, wasn't he incredibly lucky in history? And didn't he live a really long life?
System: That's why you're here! Correct history and make him lucky again.
Ramesis: And if I refuse?
System: Then you can't exist either. After all, his cause gave rise to you.
*
Ramesses II suspected that a female ghost had latched onto him. Otherwise, he couldn't explain why a woman who treated him so well had suddenly appeared in the temple.
Her name was Xixi. She knew him extremely well, understood the motives behind everything he did, and could guess what he was thinking.
Ramesses II had never experienced anything like it. He suspected his father had set another trap for him.
So he did his best to keep the woman at a distance, yet found himself irresistibly drawn to her without even realizing it.
She was like his shadow, always at his side.

Not long after Ramesis arrived by Ramesses II's side, she told the System that her conquest was bound to fail, so all they needed to do was correct history.
System: Why?
Ramesis: Because I understand myself best.
The first failure came when Ramesses II successfully ascended the throne. She suddenly became Isetnofret, a descendant of Pharaoh Horemheb, and was to marry him.
Ramesis: See? I told you. An unloved consort.
The second failure came when a woman named Nefertari appeared among the common people.
Ramesis: My true love is here! Hurry and bring her to the palace!
The third failure came after Merneptah was born.
Ramesis: Hey, System, my mission's complete.
System: Ramesses II's affection for you is still close to zero, but history has been corrected one hundred percent. Are you sure you want to leave?
Ramesis nodded hesitantly. "History's back on track, anyway. As for Ramesses II... I understand myself best. He could never love me. He loves himself most of all."
*
Ramesses II couldn't quite understand why Xixi sometimes seemed to love him so much, and at other times not at all.
He had gone to great lengths to give her a status that would let her marry him and stay by his side forever. Yet she kept him at arm's length every day, told her maids she was unloved, and refused to accept the title of Great Royal Wife.
She wanted a woman from among the common people brought to the palace, so he went and brought her back.
She wanted to have three children, so he agreed, then never had any more.
After returning from a campaign one day, he was eager to see her, but news reached him from the palace.
Isetnofret had walked into the Nile.
Ramesses II rushed after her, but there was nothing in the calmly flowing waters of the Nile.
Meanwhile, in a temple of Min in the Akhmim region, Ramesis opened her eyes.
"Merimut, you're finally awake."
Reading Guide: (Will launch when the advance collection reaches 350)
Pairing: Ramesses II x Ramesis, a sort of narcissistic romance.
Ancient Egypt and Ramesses II will be romanticized, since this is a novel. One-on-one romance, happy ending, both leads have no previous partners. I have my own plans for the male lead's harem issue. In my story, he can only love the female lead.
Theme: I'll accept a love built on lies, as long as it's you
