Has Lord Belial Really Fallen for His Human Host?

Belial smashed the Land of Light after learning that his two friends, Ken and Marie, had gotten together.

The result was that he fell to Earth badly injured and was forced to share one body with a girl who was so poor that all she had to offer was a sweet tongue and endless chatter.

Belial: Ken, just you wait!

The girl sharing his body knew nothing at all. All she could do was compliment people.

"Lord Belial, you're so handsome!"

"Lord Belial, you're so strong!"

"Lord Belial, you even look great with a straight face!"

Belial: ...Is this woman sick in the head?

Takanashi Mei found an Ultraman. He was the first real friend in her life, even if he did have a terrible temper.

She worked hard to earn money, helping stray animals and orphans.

She worked hard to live, smiled at everyone, and never held back her compliments, but people still disliked her, and she couldn't make a single friend.

All because she was unbelievably unlucky.

Even if she spotted a five-yen coin on the road, she'd trip and fall into a ditch the very next second.

She was so unlucky that she brought bad luck to everyone around her. Nobody liked her.

Takanashi Mei: "Just smile. I'm not a yen coin, so not everyone has to like me."

Belial: "It takes a special talent to make everyone hate you."

Takanashi Mei: "Wow, Lord Belial, you're complimenting me! You make me sound so impressive."

Belial: "? I knew this woman was sick in the head!"

Belial treated Takanashi Mei like a battery. Whenever Mei used his power, he recovered faster.

Once he realized that, he pointed at the "old friend's son," Taro, who was fighting a monster. "See him? I'm much stronger than he is. If you listen to me, you can do the same."

Takanashi Mei's eyes lit up. "Really?"

Belial began teaching Mei how to use his power. On the surface, he was saving Earth, but what he really wanted was revenge on Taro.

He was annoyed just thinking about how Taro was Ken and Marie's son. It also annoyed him to see Mei smile at Kotaro Higashi. Whenever he got annoyed, he looked down on his human host even more, since she had nothing going for her.

But at some point, he began to care about her smile, her warmth, and how pale she looked every time she used her power.

One night, he suddenly realized that he wanted to kiss this unlucky, useless, plain-bodied girl who smiled so sweetly.

Belial: "I must be going crazy..."

Belial had never known how difficult it would be to make a woman understand that he liked her.

Whenever he tried to express his feelings, she'd say, "I know, Lord Belial. I'm your very best friend!"

In Mei's world, it seemed she'd never considered him someone she could fall in love with.

At first, Belial refused to admit it. Later, he decided he could take his time. Then Mei's upperclassman confessed to her, and he completely lost it.

Against Mei's wishes, he forcibly took control of her body and went to meet the upperclassman waiting for her.

"You like this guy?"

The upperclassman was startled by the sudden change in Mei's aura. "What? Mei, what's wrong with you?"

Just looking at the guy made Belial angry. Knowing that he was the one who'd brought him to Mei made Belial resentful and furious too. He grabbed the man's collar and sneered, "Like him? I still won't give you this girl. She's mine!"

This is a lighthearted, sweet, indulgent comedy with no particular message. I'm letting loose with this one because I want to enjoy a Belial alternate timeline. Just thinking about it made her want to laugh.

But Belial was serious.

Tokiwa Natsu: "Then at least give me some kind of ability, right?"

So the great novelist Fushii Ide K gave her a bracelet that could protect her and kill people.

Tokiwa Natsu wiped away her tears: Fine, fine. I'm finally not an ordinary person anymore.

After a huge battle, Belial got beaten to death again and again.

She woke up in a hospital in the Land of Light and discovered that her own body was lying in the bed next to hers.

She'd swapped bodies with Zero?!

"I don't want this ugly body!"

"Hey! Who are you calling ugly?!"

Tokiwa Natsu froze. She hadn't said anything out loud. How did Ultraman Zero know she'd insulted him in her head?

A coincidence? It had to be.

The Land of Light's headlines exploded.

"Shocking! Zero and an Unknown Girl Die Together!"

"Scandal! Defense Force Captures High-Definition Footage of the Two in a Tangle!"

The picture was a hologram of her dragging Zero toward the Plasma Spark Tower.

Zero grabbed her, furious. "The whole Land of Light thinks we're trying to die together!"

[Then figure out how to switch us back! I can't kill you until we switch back.]

Zero was stunned. "What? You...!!!!"

Tokiwa Natsu: "What did I do? Oh my god, Zero's killing people!!!"

Everyone in the Ultimate Force Zero rushed in and only just managed to hold Zero back.

To get their bodies back, the two set off on a journey through time and space.

Tokiwa Natsu, who just wanted to lie flat forever, went from awkwardly fighting in Zero's body to facing her enemies with a blank expression.

The hardship she went through in between? Too many tears to count.

Zero was speechless. "Why don't you take a look at me?"

He gestured to the magical-girl dress he was wearing.

The bracelet's powers were way too ridiculous. Not only did it summon all kinds of strange things every day, it also let him hear what she was thinking.

Tokiwa Natsu: [Hmph, that's still better than all those muscles of yours! I hate men who lift weights without restraint. Cute, pretty dresses are much nicer, but... those muscles do feel reassuring to squeeze.]

Zero: I'll endure it.

She used Zero's body to deal with an alien princess who had a crush on him.

Zero used her body to deal with her own suitors.

The princess was placated, but the suitor was gone.

Tokiwa Natsu was furious. A person can be killed, but not humiliated! She challenged Zero to a duel.

Zero remained calm and refused to fight. "What's so great about that guy? If you lose him, there'll be another one!"

"Where am I going to find another one?! He's the only one I've got!"

"...Fine, I'll make it up to you."

Tokiwa Natsu was speechless. "How? With those guys from the Ultimate Force Zero? No thanks."

"...Then I'll make it up to you by giving you myself!"

Tokiwa Natsu froze. Just as Zero thought he'd cheered her up, she burst into tears.

"That's even worse! I'd rather have one of the guys from the force!"

Zero was so angry he nearly vomited blood.
