Ming Lang, a top-tier star blogger, is handsome and good-natured, lively, cheerful, and endlessly imaginative. He loves traveling and knows how to enjoy life. For years, he has held the number one spot on the list of “the most dateable handsome men on the internet.”
Xu Jingshen, a genius singer-songwriter, keeps to himself. As famous as his music are his quiet, aloof personality and his face radiating overwhelming sexual tension. He is often voted “the entertainment industry’s gloomy, cold, and dangerously charismatic top Alpha.”
Later, a platform launches a travel variety show where guests are paired up. These two, who seem to have nothing in common and are worlds apart, end up together by draw.
Everyone is eager to see what kind of sparks these two might create.
Instead, one is polite and mild-mannered while the other is taciturn and silent. After just one episode, their team is voted “the most boring duo.”
On camera, they’re courteous but distant, their interactions stiff, with no chemistry as either a couple or friends. Viewers can’t help wondering if the two have some deep-seated grudge, and why even a social butterfly like Ming Lang can’t get through to Xu Jingshen.
Ming Lang’s response: “There is, actually.”
After filming wraps and the cameras are off, Ming Lang lies on the bed, eyes closed, resting after a long day. Hearing the other person’s footsteps approach, he says without a hint of politeness:
“Go sleep somewhere else.”
So the other person really does move away.
Ming Lang opens one eye and looks at the silent figure by the window, regretting for the ten-thousandth time that he accepted the invitation. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have run into Xu Jingshen:
His damn ex-boyfriend, the one he had sworn never to speak to again.

Ming Lang used to be convinced he was straight.
That was until he met Xu Jingshen. After three months and five meetings, a few drinks at their sixth meeting were all it took for them to give in to their passion and end up in bed together.
The internet says that’s called physical attraction.
They’d slept together, so Ming Lang figured he ought to take responsibility. He readily accepted that he was gay and suggested that he and Xu Jingshen give dating a real shot.
Xu Jingshen was indeed a pretty good boyfriend: rich, quiet, and great in bed. Aside from being a little jealous, he didn’t seem to have any other flaws.
But it didn’t take long for Ming Lang to realize he was wrong.
The guy was seriously insane.
Ming Lang stayed up all night drinking and playing games with friends. When he woke up the next afternoon and checked his phone, a thousand-word essay was shoved right in his face.
The gist: Ming Lang hadn’t replied for an hour, so Xu Jingshen felt unloved.
Xu Jingshen was busy with work. Ming Lang wanted to visit him on set, but Xu refused, saying it was crowded and he didn’t want Ming Lang making the trip. Ming Lang said, “Okay, whatever works.”
Then Xu started acting cool on the phone and replying to messages whenever he felt like it. Ming Lang assumed he was just busy, only to learn a month later that Xu had been sulking because Ming Lang hadn’t insisted on visiting.
His boyfriend acted cold and aloof on the surface but was a total drama queen in private, throwing a fit over the smallest things. Ming Lang was exhausted.
If he wanted to break up, why not just say so? Why make a scene and torment him?
Ming Lang felt like he’d been scammed.
Then one time, Xu Jingshen returned from a business trip. Ming Lang had gone to a friend’s birthday party instead of meeting him at the airport. Afterward, as he was heading home, he opened his phone and found another six-hundred-word essay.
He skimmed the first part and went straight to the last line:
[If you don’t love me, you can break up with me.]
Even a camel will collapse if you keep piling on straw.
And no matter how strong a camel Ming Lang might be, he couldn’t take any more.
[Fine. Let’s break up.]

The gloomy, cold, dangerously charismatic top Alpha isn’t cold or aloof at all. The handsome guy who seems perfect for dating actually has no idea how to date.
A story about two people who don’t know how to love, yet love each other with all their hearts.
The gong has an avoidant attachment style, is prone to insecurity and jealousy, and lacks a sense of security. The shou is a straight man with extraordinary obliviousness, who can’t handle other people’s feelings or relationships. Both of them have their problems during their first relationship.
Neither the gong nor the shou is a perfect character. Not recommended for readers who are extremely attached to one character type.
