Don't Make Me Come Out of Retirement After Faking My Death

Yan Che is the top defender of the Northern Star Frontier.

A general whom people suspect could stage a rebellion at any moment. One major reason is that he is always far too "shocking in what he says."

The military command reassigned the defense zones. Looking at the newly arranged deployment map, the general gave a cold laugh.

"What a fine example of a warlord's fiefdom. With this deployment, if I were stationed here on the edge of the star sea, I could join forces with the space pirates from the inside tomorrow and rebel on the spot."

"Oh, and Wole Star to the south is a great place too. The Federation is to its left, the Empire to its right. I could defect whenever I wanted."

"But my own territory isn't bad either. I could declare independence on the spot without a problem."

The military command stayed up all night revising the deployment map. (

Many people didn't understand why he acted this way, so they assumed the general harbored traitorous intentions.

"If I wanted to betray the Federation, would I need to go to all this trouble?"

Faced with a barrage of questions, the general merely raised his eyes, cool and dismissive.

Later, the Supreme Leader set him up.

"I've guarded the Federation for half a century."

He gave a low, derisive laugh, his usual sarcastic voice now tinged with dejection.

"...And all you can see is my defiance."

General Yan died. In his place came a world divided among ambitious warlords, and the head of the Starwhale Bone mercenary group, a band that went around robbing space pirates.

By chance, he picked up a young master who had run away from home aboard a space pirate ship he was robbing...

Core message: Do it again, don't just talk.
